Position Summary

The New Construction Manager leads day-to-day operations for Anderson Air's new construction division, owning department performance from estimating and bidding through job execution and quality control. This role builds and maintains strong relationships with builders and key stakeholders, drives P&L performance, and directly oversees the teams responsible for warehouse, procurement, set-out, duct install, and field foremen. The New Construction Manager sets the pace and standard for the department, ensuring jobs are estimated accurately, staffed efficiently, and delivered to a high standard of quality and safety. This includes direct oversight of quality control and training, ensuring field teams are consistently coached, held accountable to standards, and equipped to deliver quality work on every job.


Responsibilities

Operations & P&L Leadership

  • Coordinate, complete, and oversee department operations by building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Own P&L performance, including reviewing financials to ensure labor and materials are properly allocated, managing budgets, and achieving sales and labor goals.
  • Review P&L monthly to ensure labor and materials for larger projects are allocated to the correct month.
  • Approve departmental expenses such as vendor and fuel charges, ensuring cost control.
  • Develop and implement processes that drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement across the department.

Estimating & Bidding

  • Lead and manage the estimation and bidding process, including material takeoffs, labor forecasting, equipment options, and margin analysis; ensure estimates are submitted on time.
  • Put together estimates from takeoffs with multiple equipment options, determining margin based on builder and type of work; follow up on submitted estimates.

Layout, Design & Builder Relations

  • Meet with the Layout/Design team to approve plans and confirm layouts on-site with builders.
  • Oversee and approve layout design, and meet with layout teams and builders on-site to confirm layout plans and equipment installs.
  • Respond to builder concerns and escalated calls from customers, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Check and respond to emails from builders and address concerns proactively.

Field Operations, Quality & Scheduling

  • Oversee and enforce quality control standards across all projects; conduct site visits and review job quality, including photo review in ServiceTitan.
  • Manage labor allocation, scheduling, and overtime based on workload.
  • Check on crews at job sites and meet on-site with technical support to resolve install issues.
  • Collaborate with dispatch to optimize job scheduling, move jobs as needed, and improve overall efficiency.

Team Leadership & Communication

  • Facilitate daily morning meetings to review jobs, provide training, and align team priorities.
  • Lead weekly meetings with operations, team leads, set-out, and office staff.
  • Ensure a safe, efficient, and compliant work environment that fosters team morale and professional development.

Warehouse & Procurement Oversight

  • Oversee warehouse operations including procurement, staging, inventory accuracy, and resolving material-related issues.
  • Work directly with warehouse staff on procurement issues and problem solving.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction operations management, preferably within HVAC, new construction, or a related trade.
  • Proven experience owning P&L performance, budgets, and departmental financial outcomes.
  • Experience leading estimating, bidding, and margin analysis processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop multiple teams or functions simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with ServiceTitan or comparable field service management software.
  • Strong communication skills, with experience managing builder and customer relationships, including escalations.

Preferred

  • Background in HVAC, plumbing, or a related trade within a new construction or production homebuilding environment.
  • Experience managing warehouse, procurement, or logistics functions in addition to field operations.

Work Environment.

This role splits time between office-based planning and regular travel to job sites, builder sites, and warehouse operations to support the team and maintain key relationships. Site visits may require entering active work areas and non-climate-controlled environments. Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and move safely around active jobsites, including new construction environments. This role also requires occasional availability outside standard business hours to support the team on escalated or time-sensitive issues.
