Position Summary

GeoSurfaces is seeking an experienced and highly organized Project Manager to oversee sports construction projects from initial planning through completion and closeout.

The Project Manager will be involved in all aspects of assigned projects, including project planning, estimating, cost management, scheduling, quality management, contract administration, subcontractor coordination, and client communication. This role is responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements and company quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate project buyouts, complete project takeoffs, and obtain estimates from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Develop cost-effective project plans and schedules to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Revise project plans and schedules as necessary to accommodate changing project conditions.
  • Work closely with Project Coordinators to ensure material purchases are completed within schedule and budget requirements.
  • Coordinate installers and subcontractors working across various phases of assigned projects.
  • Ensure crews and subcontractors understand project scope, schedules, quality expectations, and budget requirements.
  • Conduct routine jobsite visits and obtain survey information using a total station.
  • Support other Project Managers and Estimators as needed.
  • Review architectural and engineering drawings, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Ensure appropriate construction methods are used and applicable specifications and regulations are followed.
  • Provide project owners and general contractors with updates regarding installation progress, issues, and required project modifications.
  • Negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with clients, architects, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Partner with Estimators to ensure project estimates and proposals meet customer expectations while maintaining competitive costs.
  • Ensure employee hours and expense reports, including supporting receipts, are submitted to Accounting each week.
  • Ensure employee performance reviews are completed as scheduled.
  • Manage job budgets, track project expenses, and minimize the risk of cost overruns.
  • Review actual job costs against project budgets during monthly job-cost review meetings.
  • Identify and address areas of cost leakage.
  • Partner with Superintendents to promote continuous improvement in cost, scheduling, quality, and crew performance.
  • Identify and implement cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Communicate with Superintendents, owners, general contractors, and subcontractors to resolve work procedures, complaints, and installation issues.
  • Conduct periodic safety inspections of construction sites.
  • Continually evaluate project backlog to determine future labor and equipment requirements.
  • Take appropriate action to ensure qualified labor, equipment, and subcontractor resources are available when needed.
  • Lead by example in quality, safety, organization, work ethic, professionalism, and adherence to company policies.
  • Represent GeoSurfaces professionally while working in the field.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Previous project management experience within construction, sports construction, synthetic turf, grading, flooring, or a related industry preferred.
  • Working knowledge of artificial turf installation, grading, flooring, and general construction practices.
  • Ability to develop and manage project schedules and make adjustments to meet completion deadlines.
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
  • Ability to lay out fields or rooms based on project drawings and specifications.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, crews, and project stakeholders.
  • Strong cost-control, productivity, installation-quality, and safety awareness.
  • Excellent client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, training, and team-development skills.
Technical Skills and Core Competencies

Additional Requirements
  • Out-of-town travel to project sites is required.
  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
  • Must be willing to complete a background check and pre-employment drug screening in accordance with applicable laws.
Work Environment

This position operates in both professional office and active construction-site environments. The role requires regular travel, jobsite visits, interaction with contractors and clients, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under changing project conditions.
