Title: Production Operator

Location: Valparaiso, IN

Pay: $28.10 

Shift: 12 Hours on a 3/4 schedule (Night Shift)

Job Overview:

Under the direct supervision of the Production Supervisor, the Wet End Operator is responsible for monitoring and operating both manual and highly automated production equipment. This person must have the ability and flexibility to perform all operations, including but not limited to liquid material handling, mechanical, electrical, and process automation troubleshooting, and process control testing.

Essential Functions:

These areas of responsibility will include, but not be limited to:

  • Work safely, following all plant rules, reporting all near misses and unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized.
  • Monitor equipment condition and communicate any deficiencies to the supervisor.
  • Operation and cleaning of Sludge Press.
  • Filling, running, and cleaning the production reactors.
  • Transferring pickle liquor into the neutralizer and then through to the dirty and clear liquor tanks.
  • Maintain the wastewater equipment, process, and logs.
  • Re-feeding of finished goods.
  • Assist with unloading trucks.
  • Taking samples of product throughout the whole process, and maintaining sample identification.
  • Assist the Production Supervisor in troubleshooting and process repairs.
  • Follow directions given by the Production Supervisors and Managers.
  • Completes any and all other duties, as required or assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 55 pounds repetitively.
  • Frequently negotiate stairs and areas covered with floor grating.
  • Operates processes using hazardous chemicals.
  • Monitors and operates processes using computers.
  • Data entry into the computer using Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Operate a forklift occasionally.

Knowledge/Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/equivalent required or successfully pass a pre-screening test..
  • Successfully pass a capability test
  • Mechanical ability is helpful.
  • Ability to work independently.
