Job description

Hiring Immediately - Powder Coating Applicator

Location: Sterling, Virginia 20166

We are looking for motivated and detail-oriented individuals with general experience in automotive repair, wheel refinishing, and/or auto body paint who are passionate about providing quality customer service to join our team as a Powder Coater Applicator. In this hands-on role, you will be trained on the latest techniques in our state-of-the-art wheel repair facility.

Powder Coater Responsibilities:

  • Prepare parts/wheels for coating, including stripping and repairing
  • Follow all principles and practices of powder coating application
  • Operate all coating equipment including guns, hoppers, and booth collection systems
  • Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects
  • Perform normal maintenance and cleaning of all powder coating equipment and associated work areas, including the coating booth
  • Apply powder to wheels with consistent coverage and thickness
  • Bake parts at appropriate temperatures within specified time limitations
  • Load and unload parts or products onto fixtures
  • Apply primer or finish coat to wheels, products, etc. using electrostatic hand spray gun
  • Clean and degrease all products, wheels, parts, etc. as necessary, prior to coating
  • Obtain powders, media, filters, etc. from the storeroom and advise the manager as inventories diminish
  • Fill out job cards, data sheets, and reports accurately and legibly
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities focused on cycle time reduction and rework reduction
  • Accurately record daily powder usage
  • Assist in masking, hanging, and removal of production line parts
  • Assist in packaging and transfer of finished goods to the shipping department
  • Act as the primary source for wash line chemical monitoring to maintain proper chemical metrics
  • Use key quality measuring instruments to confirm powder thickness, gloss, and adhesion
  • Ensure quality standards and processes are used throughout the facility
  • Ensure safety guidelines are being met to assure a safe work environment

Powder Coater Qualifications:

  • Background in powder coating and industrial painting is a plus!
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong desire to learn
  • Ability to work independently without daily supervision
  • Possess basic computer knowledge
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment
  • Manual dexterity
  • Ability to lift and carry large, heavy objects (minimum of 75 lbs)
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to speak, read, and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers and other employees
