Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
A Powder Coater is responsible for applying decorative or protective finishes to various surfaces using a powder coating process. This role involves preparing surfaces, applying coatings, and ensuring the quality and durability of the finished product. Powder Coaters typically work in manufacturing settings where metal, wood, or other materials require coating for aesthetic or protective purposes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for powder coating by removing dirt, grease, rust, or other contaminants.
  • Sand, grind, or buff surfaces to create a smooth and even base for coating.
  • Apply powder coating to surfaces using spray guns or other application equipment.
  • Ensure an even and consistent coating, taking into account thickness requirements.
  • Mix and match powder coating colors to meet specified requirements or customer preferences.
  • Maintain an inventory of powder coating materials and colors.
  • Set up and adjust powder coating equipment, ensuring proper functioning.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
  • Inspect coated surfaces for defects, inconsistencies, or imperfections.
  • Make adjustments to the coating process as needed to achieve desired results.
  • Place coated items into ovens or curing chambers to cure and harden the powder coating.
  • Monitor and control curing temperatures and times.
  • Apply masking materials to specific areas of surfaces to protect them from coating.
  • Use tape and other materials to create defined edges or patterns when necessary.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines for handling powder coating materials.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks, gloves, and eye protection.

  • Clean and maintain the powder coating booth, equipment, and surrounding work areas.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Lift and move items as needed.
  • Ability to distinguish between different colors for accurate color matching.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and a commitment to creating a safe working environment.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and contribute to overall production goals.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • High school or equivalent required.
  • Proven experience as a Powder Coater in a manufacturing or coating facility.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Occasional reaching/working overhead, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling
  • Frequent walking
  • Continuous standing and repetitive hand motion
