Job description

Wanco Inc. is seeking a Coating Department Manager to direct the staff, process, and relevant material flows for our powder coating operations. This role will be charged with staff development and management, defining (documenting) and maintaining process, including maintenance standards, establishing output, load and density standards, and managing operational and CAPEX budgets. The successful candidate will have a manufacturing and/or engineering background, have data collection and analysis experience, and demonstrated interpersonal skills.  

What you need to have: 

·         Experience: 2-5+ years of manufacturing experience in a leadership role.

·         Leadership and Team Management: The ability to motivate, guide, and develop a production team.

·         Mechanical aptitude: Experience with traditional manufacturing and assembly, including the ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications.

·         Problem-solving and Decision-making: Identifying and resolving production bottlenecks or issues to maintain efficient output. Cause and Effect application experience required.

·         Communication: Effectively communicating production goals, expectations, and progress to various stakeholders.

·         Analytical Skills: The ability to identify problems, analyze data, and deploy effective solutions.

·         Inventory management: Experience with MRP and pull inventory management, including kanban.

·         Lean manufacturing: Experience and demonstrated understanding of 5S compliance, flow and pull concepts.

·         Workplace standardization: Experience in creating, deploying and sustaining production controls such as work instructions, one-point lessons, and visual workplace.

·         Budget management: Planning, cost control and reporting experience.

 

What we would like you to have:

·         ISO 9001:2015 experience.

·         Strong understanding of powder coating processes, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting.

·         Project Management: Experience in managing factory projects such as factory layouts, adding production cells, CAPEX projects.

·         SMED or Quick Changeover experience.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: This includes, but is not limited to:

·         Manage production schedules for sub-builds, batch and auto-line powder coating.

·         Manage supporting material storage and flows.

·         Maintain and communicate KPIs.

·         Define and manage coating quality requirements.

·         Train, schedule, direct, hire and manage performance of 25+ direct staff.

·         Define, deploy and manage TPM.

·         Manage inventory and ERP transactions.

·         Manage environmental program and reporting.

·         Facilitate and deploy density and nesting procedures, and other waste reduction projects.

·         Manage department spending.

 

Physical Requirements:

Mobility to work in factory setting, including use of standard office equipment, including a computer.

Comfortable working directly in a manufacturing facility and adhering to PPE requirements.

Some travel may be required.

 

Reporting: This position reports to the Director of Operations.

Salary Range: $86,000-$110,000 per year based on qualifications.
