What is a contract postal service worker in Puerto Rico?

Contract Postal Service jobs in Puerto Rico refer to positions that support the operations of the United States Postal Service (USPS) through contractual agreements rather than direct employment. These jobs can include roles such as mail route contractors, clerks, or individuals managing contract postal units in local businesses. Workers typically provide postal services like mail delivery, postage sales, and package handling on behalf of the USPS. Contract positions may offer flexible hours and the opportunity to serve local communities, but they are not federal employees and may have different benefits compared to full-time USPS staff.
