Pilot Escort Vehicle Operator (PEVO) 

Full-Time | Over-the-Road (OTR) | Travel Required

Pay: $20 - $23 /Hour Depending on Experience

Position Summary 

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Pilot Escort Vehicle Operator (PEVO) to ensure the safe and compliant movement of oversize/overweight loads. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe movement of loads, protection of the traveling public, prevention of infrastructure damage, and compliance with all permit and regulatory requirements. 

This role requires extensive travel and the ability to remain out of town for extended periods. Flexibility with scheduling is available based on operational needs. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Operate company pilot vehicle in support of oversize/overweight loads 

  • Maintain required safe speeds as determined by permits and management 

  • Communicate clearly with truck drivers and other escorts regarding traffic conditions, hazards, and route changes 

  • Place and remove traffic control devices including signs, cones, barricades, and warning devices as required 

  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal escort regulations 

  • Monitor road conditions and report safety hazards or traffic issues immediately 

  • Maintain professional appearance and attitude while representing the company 

  • Complete required reports, logs, and documentation accurately 

  • Participate in required training and safety meetings 

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs 

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions 

  • Extended periods of driving and standing 

Qualifications & Requirements 

  • Valid Driver’s License (Required) 

  • Clean driving record according to company criteria 

  • Minimum of 3 years driving experience 

  • Must be at least 23 years of age (insurance requirement) 

  • Valid Pilot/Escort Vehicle Operator Certification (or ability to obtain immediately upon hire) 

  • Ability to speak, read, and write English 

  • Willingness to travel extensively and stay out of town for extended periods 

Work Location
