Job description

We're seeking an experienced photo editor with exceptional picture judgment and advanced proficiency in industry-standard editing tools, including Photoshop, Photo Mechanic, FTP, and CMS/DAM systems for a four-day-per-week, in-office role based in a high-energy newsroom in Washington, DC.

You thrive in fast-paced environments and excel at quickly sourcing impactful imagery for breaking news and will be responsible for sourcing imagery for the Bloomberg Terminal and Bloomberg's homepage, utilizing a mix of wholly owned, third-party, and web-based content through proprietary tools. Your work will help illustrate a diverse range of news stories and elevate Bloomberg's visual storytelling. You may eventually assist with assigning photo coverage of news events, editing and producing high-caliber imagery and writing thoughtful, relevant captions.

You stay informed on global developments in business, finance, and politics, and are passionate about using visuals to enhance our journalism. As part of our dynamic photo team, you'll be challenged to work with speed, accuracy, and efficiency, contributing across nearly every Bloomberg platform.

You’ll need to have:
  • At least 5 years of professional photo editing experience for digital platforms including homepage and website curation
  • Strong proficiency in sourcing imagery from newswire and image licensing services
  • Solid understanding of image licensing, permissions, and associated legal considerations
  • Ability to quickly interpret editorial content and pair it effectively with visual assets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, global work environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Comfortable using Slack for team communication and collaboration

Salary Range = 45- 50 USDHourly

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
