What Does a Contract Phlebotomist Do?

As a contract phlebotomist, your responsibilities are to travel to a clinic or hospital and help get a sample of blood from a patient. Your duties usually involve using a needle to draw blood from a vein to perform a test or transfusion, but in rare cases, you may use other techniques to meet the unique medical needs of a patient. After collecting the blood, you help prepare the sample to be transferred to a laboratory for tests. In this contractor role, you serve local facilities on an assignment-basis for a specified time.

Will phlebotomy be replaced by AI?

Phlebotomy as a job involves manual blood collection that requires human skill, patient interaction, and proper technique, making full automation challenging. Phlebotomists will continue to play a vital role in healthcare settings, often using tools and technology to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
