Job Summary:

As an Equipment Processor at Allina Health, you'll ensure patients and care teams have the right tools at the right time-cleaning, tracking, and delivering medical equipment across the hospital to support safe, efficient care.

Key Position Details:

  • 0.6 FTE (48 hours per two-week pay period)
  • 8-hour permanent night shifts
  • Every other weekend rotation

Job Description:

Transports, processes (cleaning, disinfecting, scanning) and redistributes patient care supplies and medical equipment (IV pumps, specialty beds, food pumps, slings, and other reusable equipment) to departments throughout the hospital. Ensures that customers are provided with the correct equipment requested.
Principle Responsibilities

  • Picks up and processes equipment.
    • Rounds and picks up equipment in soiled utility areas.
    • Picks up specialty beds.
    • Tags all cleaned equipment with initials and date cleaned.
    • Returns clean equipment to Equipment Room.
    • Inspects equipment for damage/defects. Routes damaged items to Clinical Engineering Services(CES) for repair.
    • Scans medical equipment to track usage.
  • Delivers equipment.
    • Identifies equipment originating at another facility and calls courier for return.
    • Delivers all equipment within scheduled timeframe.
    • Communicates with unit staff regarding delays in equipment delivery.
    • Determines allocation of available equipment to most effectively serve ANW patients.
    • Stocks par levels.
    • Stocks delivered materials onto departmental storage shelves.
  • Manages slings and specialty beds.
    • Tracks sling usage.
    • Stock par levels of all slings.
    • Delivers clean reusable and disposable slings to designated location.
    • Delivers and retrieves specialty beds.
    • Assists with fleet bed exchange.
  • Coordinates equipment rentals.
    • Utilizes internet and telephone resources to order rental equipment and schedule rental returns.
    • Reconciles requests against rental protocols and available equipment supplies; when necessary, provides staff with alternate ordering information.
  • May complete patient transport (between 12:30 AM to 3:30 AM).
    • Uses Excellian for transport requests as needed.
    • Completes transport requests from Emergency Department.
    • Completes morgue transport requests.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description


Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 0 to 2 years experience in a hospital setting


Licenses/Certifications

  • BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource preferred upon hire

Pay Range

Pay Range: $20.43 to $26.90 per hourThe pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
