Position Overview NETTCP Soil and Aggregate Inspector

Were looking for a NETTCP Soil and Aggregate Inspector to support our expanding portfolio of infrastructure projects. In this role, youll play an essential part in ensuring quality, durability, and compliance across earthwork, aggregate materials, compaction testing, and project execution.


What Youll Do

Technical & Field Inspection

  • Observe and inspect soil, aggregate, and earthwork operations to ensure compliance with contract specifications
  • Perform field density testing using nuclear density gauges to verify compaction of soils, subgrades, and aggregate materials
  • Conduct sampling and testing of soils, aggregates, and related construction materials in accordance with project requirements
  • Monitor placement and compaction activities for embankments, subgrades, foundations, and roadway construction
  • Collect and document field test data accurately and efficiently
  • Submit daily inspection reports within <24 hours
  • Maintain 90%+ completion of all assigned safety training
  • Target zero avoidable safety or equipment incidents
  • Submit 98% of draft reports within 8 hours with minimal revisions
  • Maintain 95% on-time site check-in/check-out
  • Less than 1 serious issue per quarter related to Inspections, Measuring, and Test Equipment due to technician error, lack of maintenance, or lost/damaged equipment

Documentation & Quality Records

  • Maintain accurate inspection records using AEIS digital reporting tools
  • Review and verify technical documents, test results, material certifications, and project specifications
  • Ensure all testing and inspection activities are properly documented and traceable

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and QA/QC Specialists
  • Contribute to lessons-learned discussions and workflow improvements
  • Support project teams in resolving material and construction quality issues

What We're Looking For

Must Haves

  • NETTCP Soil and Aggregate Inspector Certification (preferred)
  • 2+ years of experience in construction inspection and materials testing
  • Experience operating nuclear density gauges (Troxler or Humboldt)
  • Knowledge of soil classification, aggregate testing, and compaction verification procedures
  • Familiarity with ASTM, AASHTO, and state DOT testing standards
  • OSHA 30 Construction Safety Training (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong communication and attention to detail
  • Willingness to travel to project sites

Bonus Points

  • NETTCP Concrete Technician Certification
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I
  • Experience with public infrastructure and transportation projects
  • Experience performing laboratory soil and aggregate testing
  • Familiarity with roadway, utility, and site development construction practices
