Job description

Lead Devops Production Engineer

Location: New York City

Duration: Contract

Rate: DOE

Position Overview: DevOps & Production Support position covering both vendor and in-house developed systems that support Investments & Risk functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Triage lead who is technical enough in nature to eventually troubleshoot and/or fix some of the issues on their own without having to kick it back to development teams.
  • Technical knowledge should include SQL and familiarity with UNIX based applications (these are mostly in house applications, with some modified vendor applications like Beacon).
  • Other applicable skills are Python or general scripting languages, AWS (Console, S3, Lambda, Redshift).
  • Familiarity with Mendix applications would be a plus, but not required.
  • General flow of work would be as follows:
    • Review the issue to determine if it's been encountered in the past. If so, communicate the fix or workaround to those impacted.
    • If not, perform root cause analysis using their technical knowledge, such as checking their monitoring tool (New Relic), logs, troubleshooting AWS, etc.
    • Assign to development teams with steps for remediation
  • There will be some on-call support.

More Specifically:

  • Manage daily production support issues across Risk and Investments systems.
  • Monitoring applications and system health via alert monitoring tools and provide quick response to alerts escalations and all outages.
  • Investigate and resolve technical errors.
  • Perform root cause analysis for production issues and incidents to address and prevent them from repeating.
  • Document processes and procedures related to production support and devops tasks.
  • Works with IT partners to automate and simplify software delivery processes.
  • May be involved in maintenance of business systems and interface applications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in computer science or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in technology preferably supporting Investment and Investment Technology solutions.
  • Knowledgeable in Cloud technologies, such as Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure
  • Experience, but not proficiency, in: Python, RDBMS/SQL, and general scripting technologies.
  • Ability to understand highly complex systems and data flows.
  • Understanding of markets, asset management/asset classes, and related accounting flows is preferred.
  • Demonstrated analysis and communication skills, able to resolve technology and business problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with cross-functional groups.
