Job description

Overview

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Certified Medical Biller and Coder to join our new interventional pain management practice in Kansas City. This position is responsible for accurate medical coding, billing, payment posting, account follow-up, and maintaining complete and organized patient financial records.

Duties

  • Review clinical documentation and assign accurate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes
  • Code office visits, injections, fluoroscopic procedures, and other interventional pain services
  • Review documentation for completeness and communicate coding concerns to providers
  • Prepare and submit accurate bills, claims, invoices, and supporting documentation
  • Monitor outstanding accounts and follow up on unpaid or incomplete balances
  • Correct and resubmit claims or billing documentation when necessary
  • Maintain organized records related to billing, coding, payments, and account activity
  • Initially, assisting with fulfilling medical record requests in accordance with HIPAA and practice policies
  • Track medical record requests and confirm that required authorizations are complete before release
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and applicable billing and coding requirements
  • Support the practice with additional billing and administrative duties as needed

Requirements

  • Current professional coding certification required, such as CPC, CCS, CCS-P, or equivalent
  • Experience with interventional pain management, spine, orthopedics, or procedural coding strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, modifiers, and medical terminology
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts, requests, and deadlines independently
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Dependable, organized, and able to work effectively as part of a team
