Job description

Position:         Fuels Coordinator                

Location:        McMurdo Station, South Pole or Palmer Station

Type:               Full-Time, Contract,

Duration:        Approx. 5 months

Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location

Responsible for the operation of the Fuels control center, coordinating fuel transfers, issues, and receives. 

Collects, records, manages, and reports data for all fuel issues, receipts, and transfers. 

Works with Fuels Foreman to disseminate work direction to the Fuels Operators. 

Responsible for all Fuels Department reporting, record keeping, and documentation. 

Coordinates Fuels Department interaction with other departments and agencies. 

Responsible for the base operation of the Fuels radio communication system. 

Performs duties in support of Operations Division metrics (as provided by supervisor). 

Supports the achievement of ASC metrics, whether this position's work activities directly or indirectly affect metrics. 

Helps Fuels Supervisor with writing/revising/editing Fuels Department documents, including Standard Operating Procedures, Training Documents, and Job Hazard Assessments. 

Works to achieve ASC goals and contractual commitments. 

Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace program and ensuring safety is the highest priority in the workplace. 

Performs other duties as required. 

Required Education, Experience, Certificates, and Licenses: 

High School diploma or GED 

Minimum of four (4) years' experience in a secretarial or administrative position 

Expected Skills and Competencies: 

Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook) 

Detail oriented and organized; experienced in record keeping, report generation, and data entry. 

Critical problem-solving and decision-making ability; able to work under minimal supervision. 

Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. 

Preferred: 

Radio operations and communications experience. 

Experience working with cross-functional teams. 

Physical and/or Other Requirements: 

Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods 

Successful completion of Medical and Dental examinations required by the NSF for deployment to Antarctica 

Successful completion of drug screening and background check required by employer 

Successful completion of Federal Background Check required by the NSF 

Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum as required by the position. 

Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors in extreme cold as required by the position. 

Must participate in community programs, such as "house-mouse" (chores), "daisy-picking" (cleaning-up around the station), recycling efforts & safety objectives. 

Valid Driver's License issued in the United States 

Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
