Contract Matlab Simulink information

What is a contract Matlab Simulink job?

Contract Matlab Simulink jobs involve temporary or project-based work where professionals use MATLAB and Simulink software to design, simulate, and analyze dynamic systems, usually in engineering fields like automotive, aerospace, or robotics. Contractors may be responsible for developing models, creating simulations, or automating processes to support product development and testing. These roles typically require strong programming skills, familiarity with control systems, and experience in model-based design. Contract positions offer flexibility and can range from a few weeks to several months, depending on project needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a contract Matlab Simulink engineer?

To thrive as a Contract Matlab Simulink Engineer, you need a strong background in control systems, modeling, and simulation, typically supported by a degree in engineering or a related field. Expertise in Matlab, Simulink, and related toolboxes, as well as familiarity with code generation and version control systems, is essential. Strong problem-solving, communication, and adaptability are crucial soft skills for interpreting requirements and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. These skills ensure the delivery of accurate models and efficient solutions for complex engineering projects under tight deadlines.

What are some common challenges faced by contract Matlab Simulink engineers, and how can they be addressed to ensure project success?

Contract Matlab Simulink Engineers often face challenges such as integrating models with existing systems, managing tight project deadlines, and ensuring model accuracy for real-time applications. To overcome these, effective communication with cross-functional teams and stakeholders is crucial, as is maintaining thorough documentation of modeling decisions and simulation results. Staying updated with the latest Simulink toolboxes and best practices can also help in resolving technical issues swiftly, ensuring high-quality deliverables within contractual timelines.

What is the difference between Contract Matlab Simulink vs Contract Electrical Engineer?

Job description

Job Title: Simulation Engineer

This position seeks a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) Engineer with strong modeling and simulation experience to support the development, integration, and validation of aerospace and defense systems. The role focuses on implementing, integrating, testing, and validating existing control system designs rather than developing new GN&C algorithms from scratch. You will work extensively in MATLAB/Simulink and related environments, collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams and clearly communicating complex technical concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute system models using MATLAB, Simulink, and related simulation environments.
  • Implement GN&C functionality within existing architectures and software frameworks.
  • Translate system-level requirements into detailed simulation and software implementations.
  • Support model-based design, integration, verification, and validation activities throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate closely with systems, software, and test engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including test procedures, engineering reports, and design artifacts.
  • Participate in design reviews and clearly communicate technical status, issues, and risks to stakeholders.
  • Support software implementation and integration activities using Microsoft Visual Studio and Visual C++.
  • Execute analysis, simulation, and testing to verify system performance against requirements in areas such as MATLAB/Simulink, Stateflow, aerospace applications, and guidance, navigation, and control.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on MATLAB and Simulink experience (3 or more years preferred).
  • Experience working with simulation environments and model-based design tools.
  • Experience implementing and testing control systems within simulation environments.
  • Ability to translate system requirements into simulation and software implementations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics to cross-functional teams.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, missile, spacecraft, or autonomous systems programs.
  • Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) concepts and practices.
  • Experience with software integration and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
  • Understanding of guidance, navigation, and control (GN&C) system fundamentals.
  • Experience using Microsoft Visual Studio for software development and integration.
  • Experience with Visual C++ or C++ software development.
  • Experience with system verification and validation activities, including test planning, execution, and reporting.

Work Environment

This role offers a 9/80 work schedule, alternating between a 36-hour week and a 44-hour week, with every other Friday off to support work–life balance. The position is structured as a long-term engagement of 12 months or more. You will work in a technology-driven environment focused on aerospace and defense systems, using tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, Microsoft Visual Studio, and C++ for model-based design, simulation, and software integration. The work environment emphasizes collaboration with systems, software, and test engineers, and requires eligibility to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.
