ABOUT THE ROLE:
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking a Senior Data Center Fiber Deployment Lead to lead data center construction projects delivered by colocation providers. This role is responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
In this role, you will create, review, and maintain key project documentation, including design reviews, commissioning plans, and technical problem-solving documents. You will implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure construction activities meet design specifications, approved plans, and industry standards.
You will conduct detailed site walks and lead the startup and commissioning phases of major data center projects. You will also identify gaps in risk identification and mitigation, develop tailored solutions, and help ensure construction activities remain aligned with project requirements.
As the primary point of contact between Oracle and colocation providers, you will select, negotiate with, and manage external vendors, contractors, and suppliers. You will ensure contract compliance, monitor vendor performance, and oversee the installation of power, cooling, networking, and structured cabling systems.
This role requires to work on-site at Oracle's Data Center in Abilene, Texas. Relocation packages are available.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Construction Project Management - Project Planning and Execution:
  • Leads the construction of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Develops and maintains detailed project schedules, coordinating with colocation providers to ensure timely milestone delivery across multiple projects.
  • Creates and manages project budgets, optimizing resource allocation to ensure cost-effective project execution.
  • Creates, reviews, and maintains documentation, including design review, commissioning, and problem-solving papers, ensuring standards are upheld, documents are managed effectively, and materials are suitable for their intended purpose.

Construction Project Management - Project Integration and Quality Assurance: ng & Execution:
  • Implements and oversees quality control processes to ensure all construction activities meet design specifications and industry standards.
  • Collaborates actively in the coordination and integration of tenant fit out projects, ensuring alignment between different phases of design, construction, and commissioning.
  • Conducts detailed site walks to monitor schedule, coordination, and quality throughout the life of the project.
  • Leads the startup and commissioning phases of major data center projects, ensuring that all systems are operational and meet design specifications.

Risk and Problem Management:
  • Evaluates the risk profiles associated with timely project delivery for multiple projects.
  • Identifies gaps in risk identification and mitigation and develops tailored solutions to address these gaps.
  • Develops and implements mitigation strategies for major construction project risks to ensure project success.

Stakeholder and Vendor Management:
  • Serves as the primary point of contact between the company and colocation providers, facilitating clear and effective communication, and resolving routine issues independently.
  • Develops and maintains key relationships to effectively support internal and external stakeholders, identifying opportunities for process improvements.
  • Selects, negotiates, and manages contracts with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers, ensuring contract compliance and performance.

Design Coordination and Improvement:
  • Collaborates with design teams to ensure that construction activities align with the approved design plans and specifications, addressing routine design issues independently.
  • Provides comprehensive colocation provider evaluation input for continuous improvement and identifies opportunities for process enhancements.
  • Oversees the installation of power, cooling, networking, and structured cabling systems, ensuring adherence to quality standards.

Job Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
  • 11 years of experience in construction project management in lieu of a degree. OR
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering or a related field, and 7 years of experience in construction project management. OR
  • Master's degree in construction management engineering or related field, and 3 years of experience in construction project management and Doctorate in Construction Management, Engineering or related field AND
  • 2 years of experience working with operating budgets and/or project financials

Functional Requirements:
  • Data Center Infrastructure Construction: Demonstrated experience coordinating and managing large-scale data center infrastructure buildouts.
  • Data Center Equipment: Demonstrated experience in installation, maintenance, and upgrades of data center physical equipment.
  • Contract Management: Demonstrated ability to manage the execution and compliance of contracts for goods and services.
  • Technical Leadership: Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and mentoring on complex projects.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $102,300 to $209,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
