Job description

ALMACO in Nevada, IA is seeking entry level Mechanical Engineer or Senior Designer who want to work on a small team, to support peak work load.

This position is a temporary, 60 day position, with the opportunity for extension. It has flexible day-shift hours, 30-40 hours per week. Work can be done on-site at ALMACO headquarters in Nevada, IA or off-site but some on-site hours will be necessary.

Opportunities in this position:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate Bills of Material and manufacturing process specifications using ERP systems.
  • Collaborate with Engineers and cross-functional teams to create or modify detailed designs using SolidWorks.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and accurate documentation required by fabrication and assembly work centers to efficiently manufacture designs using SolidWorks drawings, SoildWorks Composer, and Microsoft PPT/Word/Excel where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with production employees to resolve issues with designs, drawings and assembly instructions to achieve quality and build time goals.
  • Assist with generation of cost estimates to design and manufacture new products for internal and external clients that meet unique requirements.

To excel in this position, you have:

  • A high-school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Post-high-school education or equivalent on-the-job training in mechanical drafting is required.
  • Familiarity with parametric modeling software (SolidWorks preferred) and ability to read and interpret schematics, prints, and mechanical drawings is required.
  • Two years of drafting experience with electro-mechanical parts, equipment, or devices is required.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Customer-service orientation and the ability to explain technical information clearly.
  • Comfort learning job-specific software and working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
