Job description

Job Summary:

Conduct Quality Assurance audits and routine checks, tests, gauging and instrument inspections of materials, work in process and finished product. Assure company and product standards are maintained and product integrity is preserved. Consult with Quality Manager to resolve quality, production and efficiency problems. Function as an information source to various company departments when special and critical quality issues occur. Coordinate the flow of jobs through the Inspection Department to insure that we meet the scheduled customer ship date,

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Determines overall product quality by conducting and evaluating various visual and product tests for obvious defects.

• Routinely completes and interprets inspection paperwork and blueprints including GD&T.

• Inspects incoming jobs from sub-contractors for quality and product integrity.

• Performs in-process, first piece inspection and first article using various measuring equipment.

• Notifies Quality Manager when inspection data exceeds acceptable limits or when major incidents of poor quality are detected.

• Ensures that all measuring equipment is calibrated within acceptable tolerances and time frame.

• Assists in development of special department projects and work in conjunction with QA Manager.

Additional Responsibilities:

• May cover for quality assurance personnel.

• Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.

• When requested, may work on special projects and various related assignments.

• Performs other related to work duties and assignments as required.

• May perform First Article Inspection from new or modified tooling.

The employee must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and color vision. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The noise level in the work environment may range from low, moderate to loud.

Education, Skills and Experience:

• Associates degree or equivalent in education and experience.

• Minimum two years experience in quality control.

• Experience with operating or programming a Sheffield or Zeiss CMM preferred.

• Strong attention to detail

• Strong math skills

• Good oral and written communication skills.

• Strong organization skills.

• Must be familiar with computers and computer software.

• Work independently with minimal supervision
