Title: Loss Control Engineer V
We are seeking an experienced Loss control engineer to support a large-scale data center construction project in New Albany, Ohio. This full-time onsite role will provide safety, insurance, regulatory compliance, and risk-management guidance throughout construction activities.
The position requires strong field presence, experience supporting large and complex construction sites, and the ability to analyze safety data and translate findings into corrective actions. Travel to nearby project sites may be required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Lead onsite safety engagements, inspections, and field walks.
  • Prepare and distribute safety observations, assessments, and progress reports.
  • Chair or participate in safety and project meetings.
  • Conduct risk assessments for construction-related activities.
  • Provide guidance to project teams and contractors on effective safety methodologies.
  • Support insurance, claims-management, and loss-control activities.
  • Facilitate incident investigations, root-cause analyses, and corrective-action reporting.
  • Analyze safety trends and performance metrics, including Total Case Incident Rate data.
  • Track progress against established safety routines, deliverables, and minimum standards.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Environmental Health and Safety programs.
  • Assist with onsite safety training and workforce engagement initiatives.
  • Build productive relationships with contractors, project leadership, landlords, tenants, and surrounding stakeholders.
  • Integrate safety requirements into construction sequencing and project execution.
  • Operate effectively within an Owner Controlled Insurance Program environment.
  • Travel to nearby project locations as required, generally between 0% and 30%.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety from an accredited university.
  • Current Certified Safety Professional or Construction Health and Safety Technician designation through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
  • Current OSHA 500 certification.
  • 7 or more years of experience in a dedicated construction-safety role.
  • Experience working within an Owner Controlled Insurance Program environment.
  • Experience managing insurance-related matters, claims, and relationships with insurance partners.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Environmental Health and Safety enhancement programs.
  • Experience supporting large-scale jobsites with approximately 2,000 workers or personnel.
  • Strong onsite field presence and experience partnering with contractors and project teams.
  • Experience analyzing safety data, identifying trends, and developing actionable recommendations.
  • Knowledge of Total Case Incident Rate and other construction-safety performance indicators.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, root-cause analyses, and corrective-action follow-up.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems associated with data center or mission-critical construction.
  • Experience with ground-up construction and greenfield site development.
  • Experience supporting retrofit projects in live, occupied, or mission-critical environments.
  • Knowledge of fast-track design-build processes, construction documentation, and project contracts.
  • Ability to work onsite in New Albany, Ohio, and travel to nearby project sites.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting data center, airport, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, or other complex mission-critical construction projects.
  • Experience working with large general contractors or construction management firms.
  • Experience with both new construction and active-building retrofit environments.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional relationships in complex owner, contractor, landlord, and tenant environments.
  • Strong communication, diplomacy, and conflict-resolution skills.
