Job description

Be an integral part of an agile team that constantly pushes the envelope to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market‑leading technology products within JPMorgan Chase’s Consumer and Community Banking – Connected Commerce/Payments group. In this role you will act as a core technical contributor, providing guidance to business and technical teams, vendors, and contractors, and driving decisions that influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Develop secure, high‑quality production code, review code written by others, and debug issues.
  • Drive decisions that influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes.
  • Serve as a function‑wide subject matter expert in one or more focus areas.
  • Actively contribute to the engineering community as an advocate of firm‑wide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Influence peers and project decision‑makers to consider leading‑edge technologies.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 10+ years of applied experience.
  • Experience leading technology teams and coaching them to achieve strategic initiatives.
  • Experience in hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
  • Hands‑on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with in‑depth expertise in at least one domain (e.g., cloud, AI, ML, mobile).
  • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little oversight.
  • Proficiency in Java/J2EE, REST APIs, Web Services, event‑driven Micro Services, and Kafka streaming.
  • Experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and AWS public cloud services.
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security.
  • Working proficiency with development tools such as GIT/Bitbucket, JIRA, and Maven.
  • Experience working at the code level.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Finance domain experience in United States banking & payments, including Card Network Payment and Fraud.
  • Leading experience of Java Micro Services applications on AWS/public cloud.
  • Experience with Aurora Postgres DB.
  • Certifications in Java programming or related technologies (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Spring Certification) and in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate).
