Job description

Precision Custom Components (PCC) is seeking a talented Quality Engineer I to join our team. This is an on-site position reporting to our manufacturing facility in York, PA.
At PCC, you’ll be part of a skilled team that delivers high-quality, made-to-spec components where precision, reliability, and customer focus matter. Whether you’re driving results in the office or making them happen on the shop floor, you’ll collaborate across departments to solve problems, support efficient operations, and help ensure every component is completed safely, accurately, and with precision!
This position is concerned with the implementation of the quality planning for specific manufacturing projects assigned to the quality engineering personnel, as well as assisting with activities associated with the management of PCC’s quality program. In addition, the Quality Engineer will provide technical engineering competency, planning and direction to any operating function requiring quality engineering knowledge.
Essential Duties of the Quality Engineer I:
  • Review/accept technical contract package for proper incorporation of requirements.
  • Review proposal work scope, drawings, and contract requirements for quality assurance requirements and manufacturability.
  • Implement the contract quality requirements through the incorporation of pass down requirements in purchase orders.
  • Verify Hold Points/Source Inspection activities are incorporated/planned
  • Prepare supplier inspection plans
  • Participate in supplier source inspection/surveillance activities
  • Monitor supplier performance/compliance and develop improvement action strategy
  • Assist with the timely disposition of material certifications and/or certificates of compliance.
  • Verify manufacturing planning meets contract drawing/specification requirements.
  • Implement planned controls of in-process/final quality.
  • Assist in the resolution of inspection problems related to process planning instructions.
  • Participate in evaluation and development of alternate manufacturing and/or inspection methods and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Coordinate process controls for the department and implement planned controls of in-process/final quality.
  • Conduct evaluations of quality capabilities, processes and measuring equipment through process or machine capability studies and evaluation of results.
  • Identify causes of systemic manufacturing problems through statistical analysis providing corrective action/improvement recommendations.
  • Implement routine statistical methodology for in-process control and product acceptance.
  • Administer data handling methods and ensure the completeness, clarity, distribution and retention of quality data and records.
  • Prepare information to be included in quality reports as necessary.
  • Participate in internal quality program surveillances and audits.
  • Analyze audit data and advise appropriate personnel when negative performance trends are identified. Follow-up to ensure that effective corrective action has been taken.
  • Develop planning and methods for the timely preparation of history books and resolve technical issues associated with this documentation.
  • Serve as the customer contact with respect to quality issues related to the orders to which the Quality Engineer is assigned.
  • Evaluate and provide disposition/response to customer trouble records.
  • Attend critical meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Interface with the customer regarding quality issues related to the orders to which the Quality Engineer is assigned.
Education/Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Engineering, preferably in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Two to five years industrial experience including work in a quality engineering or reliability function or demonstrated successful experience as a Quality Engineer for the equivalent time.
  • This individual must have the ability to work constructively and effectively with others in order to obtain overall effective and practical results.
  • Must have the ability to conceive and plan activities on complex technical projects.
  • Must possess a high degree of self-motivation with some supervisor direction in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Membership in appropriate technical or professional societies is optional.
  • Excellent computer skills required.
  • Must have a working knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
