Description Overview
Perrigo is hiring a Facilities Engineer to support our Allegan & Holland manufacturing facilities. The Facility Engineer manages facilities-related capital projects by controlling costs, timelines and customer expectations. Ensures ongoing facility work stays within budget, supports maintenance in troubleshooting issues, investigates and pursues innovative ideas to reduce costs, improve quality and increase productivity to support the business. The candidate will be responsible for providing facilities engineering support in the following areas: boilers, purified water, wastewater, domestic water, parking lots, roofs, floors, and fire protection.
Scope of the Role
  • Manages facility related projects, provides troubleshooting capability, and develops and reviews appropriate procedures and standards. Completes project functions within agreed upon time frames and on budget to ensure operations are efficiently maintained, and completes technical functions, ensuring timely turnaround.
  • Coordinates support staff and contracted resources to assure customer expectations are met. Provides direction for all maintenance activities, and interfaces with department managers and supervisors to remove roadblocks and provide service to meet approved schedules. Investigates and resolves system problems impacting plant reliability or efficiency. Gives guidance and provides managerial functions to support technician work, manages technicians to reach established goals, maintains employee technical competence, and strives for excellent customer service
  • Has primary accountability for main plant utility systems: boilers, purified water, wastewater, domestic water, and fire protection. Also accountable for parking lots, roofs, and floors.
  • Supports and communicates Corporate and Maintenance goals to the Maintenance department through staff meetings and responds to feedback and concerns generated by the Maintenance staff. Maintains a safe work environment to ensure the lowest possible accident rate among their staff.
  • Manages and maintains budgets for ongoing support services for facilities, and ensures projects completed accurately and within agreed upon time frames.
  • Provides input on strategic direction for facilities and supporting infrastructure

Experience Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field.
  • Computer experiences is required specifically use of MS Office Suite, MS Project, MS Power Point, Energy Management software and construction and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to write technical reports and to develop data gathering schedules
  • Ten to fifteen years of experience in managing capital projects and trouble- shooting industrial situations, with five to seven years of pharmaceutical experience.
  • Experience in coordinating tradespersons in the direction of their duties.
  • Detailed knowledge and design experience with facilities equipment.
  • Demonstrated self-confidence, and ability to manage consultants, and contractors, while interfacing with multiple departments, working with internal engineers to manage projects, policy and procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and excellent interpersonal skills, including good oral and written communication skills, and previous experience using computers.
  • Ability to handle and resolve conflicts and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to analyze existing system and collect data on buildings operations, equipment, time of day schedule, demand load and water use in an effort to reduce the consumption of electricity, natural gas and water in incremental stages.
  • Review project plans and specifications prior to bidding and inspect new construction and renovation work performed by outside contractors to ensure compliance with approved contract documents, policies, and standards.
