JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Superintendent
LOCATION/HOME OFFICE: Gas City, IN; and project sites within a 75-mile radius of
Gas City


OBJECTIVE
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Superintendent to join our team
and contribute to the successful execution of our construction projects. This role is
responsible for completing the project on schedule, within budget, to the quality of
workmanship specified, and with zero safety incidents. The ideal candidate will have a
strong understanding of concrete, rigging, steel, and carpentry construction methods.


The broad range of projects will require a versatile and adaptable individual who can
apply their knowledge and skills across different construction disciplines. They will need
to understand the unique requirements and challenges of each type of project while
ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency. The Superintendent is responsible for providing
first-line supervision of small to moderate construction projects.


Project sizes ranging from $5,000.00 to $1,500,000.00 USD and will require frequent
travel to project sites and interaction with customers. Project site locations are within a
75-mile radius of Gas City, IN.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide leadership, establish, and maintain effective and harmonious working
    relationships of the on-site staff and promote positive project morale.
  • Complete knowledge and understanding of the General Contract, each
    Subcontract, the contract drawings, specifications, and addenda; and be able to
    assist the Project Manager in the development of the on-site procedures.
  • Examine the contract drawings, specifications, and addenda for design
    deficiencies, impractical details, and possible code violations; and to bring these
    to the attention of the Project Manager who will review them with the Architect.
  • Support the Project Manager and the Scheduling Manager in the development
    and refinement of the Project Schedule; work with the Project Manager to keep
    the schedules properly updated, and to see that the job meets the various
    required dates.
  • Plan and review the Construction Program with the Project Manager, including
    quality control procedures, safety and security practices, field office location and
    layout, temporary utilities, staging areas, equipment, and manpower.
  • Verify that each Subcontractor has completed his contractual requirements as a
    condition precedent to beginning his work at the job site. This includes a
    Certificate of Insurance, a fully executed Subcontract, a Schedule of Values, and
    a Safety Program.
  • Ensure that all required permits or licenses have been obtained and that a
    weatherproof bulletin board is installed on which all required safety notices are
    posted.
  • Cooperate with and direct, when necessary, the activities of the inspection
    agencies, and to effect remedial actions indicated by the reports of these
    agencies.
  • Chair weekly coordination meetings and monthly safety meetings with the
    subcontractors and issue typewritten minutes to the Project Manager as a result
    thereof.
  • Receive and review the Subcontractor's Daily Reports of work done and labor
    and material employed.
  • Review and approve the Subcontractor's monthly requests for payment.
  • Maintain good relations and communications with all involved in the project,
    including the public.
  • Ensure that subcontractors enforce their safety programs including CCC Safety
    Program holding of toolbox safety meetings, orientations reviewing Pre-Task
    Plans, etc.
  • Overtime and travel may be required.

    further defined in the Standard Operating Procedure Manual.


CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience
    managing large-scale GC industrial and heavy commercial projects required.
  • Excellent organizational skills required.
  • Current CPR/AED certificate required.
  • 30-hour OSHA training required.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Fast-paced, busy, and occasionally noisy work environment.
  • May involve managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • May require outdoor work with exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Occasional work in high or precarious places, near fumes or airborne particles, or
    handling toxic chemicals.
  • Risk of electrical shock and vibration may occur in certain situations.
  • Frequent interruptions to address team members' needs and vendor requests.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent travel by motor vehicle may be required.
  • Extended hours on construction sites may necessitate physical stamina for
    navigating the premises.
  • Effective and professional communication with supervisors, employees, and
    others, both individually and in a team setting, is essential.
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols and the ability to follow oral and written
    instructions, including warning signs, equipment guidelines, and company
    policies, is required to perform work safely and effectively.
