Total Negotiated Salary (TNS) calculation includes AAMC salary benchmarks for Neurology ranging from $220,000.00 - $289,940.00. See the posted UC salary scales which set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. This position includes membership in the health science compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

Position description

Stroke or Neurohospitalist -Health Science Series

The University of California, Irvine, Department of Neurology is seeking a skilled stroke and vascular neurology specialist to join our growing Comprehensive Stroke Center.

Successful candidates are expected to develop robust clinical practices, to participate in clinical trials, and to be involved educators. Outstanding training in clinical care of cerebrovascular disease and a strong research background in a related area is expected. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Initial appointments are for one year and renewal is based on availability of support

Ideal candidates will hold an MD, DO, or MD/PhD, be California Board Certified or eligible for California licensure, and have exceptional training in the inpatient management of complex neurological disorders. Fellowship training in Stroke is preferred.

The successful candidates will collaborate closely with our Comprehensive Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center and a multidisciplinary team of subspecialists, including neurologists, neuro-intensivists, neuro-interventionalists, cerebrovascular surgeons, and neuroradiologists.

Criteria for the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series: The successful candidate will teach fellows, residents, and medical students, provide patient care, participate in scholarly activities, and contribute to both University and community service.

The selected applicant must qualify for an academic appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series. Candidates should demonstrate strong capabilities in teaching, research, and professional service aligned with the expectations of the Health Sciences Clinical series. The role primarily involves providing outstanding clinical care, with a focus on one or more subspecialties within the Cerebrovascular division, along with responsibilities in teaching students and residents, engaging in research or clinical trials, and contributing to university and public service.

We encourage applicants who have a strong background or expertise in the fields of intracranial atherosclerosis or cerebral small vessel disease, to apply.

Candidates with experience working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary neurosciences center and those with experience with international, national, or regional professional societies are preferred. Candidates with a background in teaching and/or involvement in clinical research or clinical trials are highly valued.
