SierTeK Ltd. is seeking a Data Visualization Specialist to support an opportunity at Wright Patterson AFB, OH.

Position Overview

The Data Visualization Specialist supports the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) by transforming complex public health, operational, and surveillance data into meaningful visual analytics that support evidence-based decision‑making across the Air Force Medical Command (AFMEDCOM) and Defense Health Agency (DHA). This position develops interactive dashboards, decision support tools, and knowledge management products by integrating data from multiple healthcare and operational systems. Working closely with Public Health Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), data analysts, information technology personnel, and military leadership, the Data Visualization Specialist delivers actionable insights that enhance operational readiness, bio surveillance, and mission effectiveness.

Essential Job FunctionsData Integration and Management
  • Prepare, clean, integrate, and manage complex datasets from multiple clinical, public health, and operational data sources for analysis and visualization.
  • Develop database models, data structures, and organizational frameworks that support program evaluation, surveillance activities, and risk-based decision making.
  • Integrate and map data across multiple information systems while developing and maintaining comprehensive data dictionaries to ensure data quality, consistency, integrity, and traceability.
  • Ensure all data management activities comply with Department of Defense information assurance requirements, including HIPAA, Information Security (INFOSEC), the Privacy Act, and other applicable data governance policies.
Data Visualization and Decision Support
  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards, visual analytics, and decision support tools that provide commanders and stakeholders with timely, evidence-based operational insights.
  • Transform complex analytical findings into intuitive visualizations that improve situational awareness and facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Develop visualization products that support mission planning, operational readiness assessments, public health surveillance, and Course of Action (COA) development.
  • Apply advanced analytical techniques, including statistical analysis, predictive modeling, optimization, and machine learning methods, to support visualization and decision support initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain reusable visualization templates, reporting standards, and best practices.
Communication and Collaboration
  • Prepare and present technical reports, executive briefings, presentations, and documentation describing visualization methodologies, analytical findings, and project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Public Health Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), epidemiologists, data scientists, information technology personnel, and other stakeholders to identify reporting requirements and enhance enterprise data‑sharing capabilities.
  • Serve as a technical advisor on data visualization methodologies, business intelligence solutions, and knowledge management best practices.
  • Support multidisciplinary teams in identifying analytical requirements and recommending visualization strategies that align with organizational objectives.
Training and Knowledge Management
  • Develop instructional materials, user guides, and reference documentation for visualization tools and knowledge management processes.
  • Deliver training sessions and workshops to USAFSAM personnel on dashboards, visualization platforms, and decision support products.
  • Promote best practices for data visualization, dashboard development, and effective communication of analytical results.
QualificationsMinimum Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Operations Research, Information Systems, Statistics, Public Health Informatics, or a related technical field with a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree in a related discipline.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in data visualization, business intelligence, data administration, information management, or analytics.
  • Experience integrating and managing data from multiple healthcare, public health, or military information systems, with the ability to learn and utilize systems such as:

    • Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System (DOEHRS)

  • Demonstrated expertise in preparing, organizing, and optimizing complex datasets for analysis and visualization.
  • Experience developing interactive dashboards, decision support systems, Heads‑Up Displays (HUDs), and other visualization products using business intelligence platforms such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, or similar tools.
  • Experience with statistical and analytical software such as SAS and programming languages including Python and/or R.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, information management, and data quality principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information to senior leaders and diverse audiences.
  • Current HIPAA training or the ability to complete HIPAA training within one month of employment.
  • Ability to execute a Non‑Disclosure Agreement (NDA).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, Air Force Medical Service, Defense Health Agency, or other federal healthcare organizations.
  • Experience developing enterprise business intelligence solutions for healthcare, public health, or operational environments.
  • Knowledge of public health surveillance, epidemiology, bio surveillance, or operational health analytics.
  • Experience with predictive analytics, machine learning, geospatial visualization, or advanced statistical modeling.
  • Experience developing executive‑level dashboards that support operational readiness, risk assessment, and mission planning.
  • Familiarity with Knowledge Management (KM) principles, data architecture, and enterprise information management.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams consisting of epidemiologists, data scientists, clinicians, public health professionals, and information technology specialists.
