Job description

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges. JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An Engineer V serves as a principal investigator and individual contributor to contract research, development, integration, and sustainment projects. Employee will be responsible for the following functions/duties: Develop and apply advanced methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and difficult system design requirements and problems Conduct investigations of considerable complexity Provide technical consultation to other organizations or customers Direct interface with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design Act as liaison for test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications Plan, conduct, and technically direct projects or major phases of significant projects requiring the expert application of advanced knowledge Review completion and implementation of systems additions and/or enhancements and recommend corrections in technical application and analysis to management Represent the company as technical advisor in high-level meetings and briefings with company and customer personnel Prepare, deliver, and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work Act as a company/industry expert resource on the most complex engineering problems Maintain technical project responsibility for assigned tasks and advise management of progress in support of the technical and administrative direction of project operations Conduct site visits and experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations Develop, interpret, and implement technical and administrative operating policies and procedures Perform other job-related duties, as required RANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION 418th Flight Test Squadron at Edwards Air Force Base, California is currently seeking one JT4 experienced Flight Test Engineer. This is a flying position. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Flight Test Engineers at the 418th ensure safe, effective, and efficient test Leads flight test execution as onboard flying Test Conductor while monitoring safety of flight and data parameters real-time Maintains test discipline during test execution, employing crew resource management and operational risk management techniques Leads pre- and post-flight mission briefings. Documents test results post-flight Identifies resources required for flight test missions, and coordinates with other teams such as discipline engineering, maintenance, management, and aircrew to ensure effective test execution Works closely with Test Pilots in all stages of test execution: test planning, design reviews, test plan working groups, test plan technical and safety planning, test cards, test execution, and post-test reporting as required Some overseas travel may be required INITIAL TRAINING INCLUDES: Water Survival Land Survival Altitude Chamber Aircraft specific training HIGHLY DESIRED: BS Aerospace Engineering FAA Private Pilot License Practical aviation experience Current Top Secret security clearance REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE A Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 14 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering and a minimum of eight (8) years of related engineering experience are required for this position. In addition, an Engineer V must possess the following qualifications: Well-established, substantial, professional reputation in one or more of the principal technical disciplines of the company Demonstrated ability to direct senior technical personnel in project assignments involving research, development, integration, and sustainment of complex systems or processes Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools Superior communications skills, both verbal and written, in day-to-day project activities as well as in briefing customers and in writing reports and proposals Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines Must possess a valid, state issued driver’s license Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance Must be able to obtain and maintain FAA Class II medical (pre-employment) Must be a U.S. citizen SALARY The expected salary range for this position is $135,000 to $180,000 annually. Note: The salary range offered for this position is a good faith description of the expected salary range this role will pay. JT4, LLC considers factors such as (but not limited to) responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer. Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
