Job description

JUNIOR FINANCIAL ANALYST (AI-ENABLED)

Greenwich, Connecticut | Part-Time, 2–3 days per week, in office | Entry-Level | Reports to the Financial Controller

About the Company

The Kaali-Nagy Company is a successful and entrepreneurial real estate family office. For over 40 years, the firm has carefully and methodically grown from humble beginnings. The Company has designed, developed, and sold over $1 Billion of successful real estate projects. Our focus is to create value through land acquisition, design, and ground up development of exceptional single family speculative homes and communities in the Greenwich and Palm Beach markets. The firm also sources, invests in, and develops ground up boutique branded multifamily rental developments in select Northeastern and Florida markets. Based in Greenwich, Connecticut, the principals are cross-functional and nimble — and do not rely on institutional capital or capital partners. The Company is currently active in pre-development and development on over $150 Million of ground up development projects.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a sharp, numbers-driven Junior Financial Analyst to work directly alongside our Financial Controller on a part-time basis, two to three days per week in our Greenwich office. This is an entry-level position designed for someone early in their career who genuinely enjoys crunching data, pressure-testing costs, sourcing comparables, and finding value that others miss.

Equally important — and central to this role — we want someone who is genuinely excited about AI and determined to excel at it. You should already be fluent in Claude, ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and similar platforms, and actively following where they are headed: new model releases, new features and integrations, and new tools as they emerge. We want someone who tracks what is coming, tests it, and brings the useful pieces back to the team. You will not just use AI here; you will help us build it into how we operate, from QuickBooks and month-end processes to budget analysis and internal reporting — making our existing protocols faster, more accurate, and less expensive to run.

You will learn this business from the inside, mentored directly by our Controller and with regular exposure to the principals of the firm. You will see every facet of the real estate development process — land acquisition through closing — far earlier in your career than you would at a larger institution. The role has real room to grow in scope, hours, and responsibility based on performance.

Primary Responsibilities

Financial Analysis, Cost & Value

•     Track and analyze development budgets, budget vs. actuals, and cost variances across multiple active projects

•     Source and analyze comparables — land, materials, labor, sale comps — to support acquisition and pricing decisions

•     Support materials sourcing and vendor pricing analysis; identify cost savings and value engineering opportunities

•     Assist with bid leveling and cost analysis during the pre-development and bidding phases

•     Build and maintain financial models, project pro formas, and sensitivity analyses under the Controller’s direction

Accounting & Reporting Support

•     Work alongside the Financial Controller on project financials, journal entries, general ledger review, and monthly close

•     Support contractor payments, bank requisitions, lien waiver tracking, and construction lender reporting in QuickBooks and Buildertrend

•     Prepare and distribute recurring project and portfolio reporting on a timely, reliable schedule

•     Assist in coordination with outside tax preparers on projections, closings, and year-end filings

AI Enablement & Process Improvement

•     Identify where AI tools can reduce manual work across bookkeeping, reporting, document review, and office administration

•     Build and document practical AI-assisted workflows — prompts, templates, and repeatable processes the team can actually use

•     Automate and streamline data extraction, reconciliation, invoice and contract review, and report generation

•     Actively monitor new AI developments — Claude model releases, add-ins and integrations, ChatGPT, Google, and emerging tools — and evaluate what is worth adopting

•     Continuously re-examine existing office protocols and recommend changes that reduce cost, time, and error

•     Train and support the team on adopting new tools, with a clear-eyed view of where AI output must be verified

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes

•     0–3 years of professional experience — this is an entry-level role and we welcome candidates at the start of their careers; relevant internship or coursework experience counts

•     Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, real estate, or a related discipline

•     Genuine enthusiasm for numbers — someone who enjoys digging into a cost schedule and finding the discrepancy

•     Meticulous attention to detail and a high standard for accuracy; diligent, dependable, and able to own a task through to completion

•     Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel — advanced formulas, pivot tables, and financial modeling — and someone who genuinely enjoys building and stress-testing a model

•     A real passion for finding savings: the kind of person who is satisfied by a negotiated vendor price, a caught duplicate charge, or a line item that should not be there

•     Working knowledge of QuickBooks; Buildertrend or comparable construction management software a strong plus

•     Highly proficient with Claude, ChatGPT, Google Gemini, or similar AI tools in a real working setting — candidates should be prepared to walk us through specific workflows they have built or improved

•     Visibly engaged with where AI is going — you follow new releases, features, and add-ins, experiment with them on your own, and want to keep getting better at this

•     Eager to take ownership of AI adoption here and make our current protocols measurably more efficient, both operationally and financially

•     A fast learner who picks up new systems quickly, asks good questions, and is eager to take on more

•     Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable working directly with principals in a small, collaborative team

•     Study or background in architecture, engineering, construction, or planning a plus

•     Familiarity with AutoCAD, Miro, Photoshop, or REVIT a plus

What Success Looks Like

•     Within 90 days: comfortable with our project financials and reporting cadence, and producing accurate analysis with light review

•     Within 6 months: at least two office or accounting processes measurably faster or more accurate through AI-assisted workflows you helped design

•     Within 12 months: trusted to own recurring reporting end to end, and surfacing cost savings that would not have been caught otherwise

Additional Information

This is a part-time, entry-level, in-office position based in Greenwich, Connecticut, with a schedule of two to three days per week. Schedule flexibility is available for the right candidate, including for those completing a degree or professional certification. No travel required. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience, with bonus incentive opportunity. There is genuine potential for the role to grow in scope, hours, and responsibility over time.
