Job description

Summary: We are#seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at the GHS Endoscopy Center. In this role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care throughout the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases of endoscopic procedures. You will play a vital role in ensuring patient safety, comfort, and education while assisting in maintaining compliance with accreditation and CMS standards.

Responsibilities:# # Patient Assessment and Preparation: Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments, including medical histories, physical exams, and medication reviews. Educate patients and their families about the endoscopy process, including preparation requirements and post-operative care. Informed Consent and Documentation: Obtain and verify informed consent from patients prior to procedures, ensuring they understand risks and benefits.

Document all relevant patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR). Pre-Operative Care: Administer prescribed pre-operative medications and monitor patients for any adverse reactions. Prepare and ensure the readiness of the treatment area and equipment prior to procedures.

Intra-Operative Support: Assist the physician and surgical team during endoscopic procedures, ensuring a sterile environment. Monitor patients# vital signs and level of consciousness throughout the procedure, responding to changes as needed. Post-Operative Monitoring and Education: Assess patients as they recover from sedation and anesthesia, monitoring vital signs and overall well-being.

Provide clear post-operative instructions to patients and families, including signs of potential complications. Patient Safety and Comfort: Advocate for patient safety and comfort at all times, addressing any concerns or needs promptly. Implement protocols to minimize risks and ensure a positive patient experience.

Compliance and Quality Assurance: Assist in maintaining compliance with accreditation and CMS standards. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and regular audits to identify areas for enhancement in patient care. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.

Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and support staff to ensure coordinated care. Continuous Education and Professional Development: Stay current with best practices, new technologies, and regulatory requirements in endoscopy nursing. Participate in ongoing education and training programs to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.# # Qualifications:# Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of North Carolina.

Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience, preferably in an ambulatory surgery, operating room, or endoscopy center setting. Previous experience in endoscopy nursing is highly desirable. BSN Preferred.

Certification: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient education and support. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.

Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. # Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift patients, and assist with mobility.

May require occasional exposure to hazardous materials or infectious diseases.
