Job description

Job Description Step into a hands-on role where your mechanical know-how and attention to detail directly keep production running smoothly and safely. This is a contract opportunity with a busy manufacturing operation that relies on skilled machine operators to maintain output and quality on a high-volume line. You'll be trusted to manage complex equipment and ensure every product meets strict standards.

About the Role: In this role, you will operate and monitor production machinery on a fixed Thursday-Saturday schedule from 4:00 AM to 4:30 PM, ensuring consistent performance throughout each shift. You will be responsible for maintaining smooth operations, identifying issues early, and working within established processes to minimise downtime. Your work will directly support production targets and uphold quality expectations across the line.

Key Responsibilities: Operate assigned machinery according to established procedures, settings, and safety protocols. Continuously monitor machine performance, making real-time adjustments to maintain optimal output and product quality. Perform mechanical troubleshooting on equipment issues to quickly identify root causes and restore operation.

Conduct routine quality control checks and inspections on finished and in-process products using appropriate tools and methods. Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions to set up and run equipment correctly. Carry out basic preventive maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor part replacement, to reduce unplanned downtime.

Accurately record production data, inspection results, and machine status in logs or systems as required. Collaborate with maintenance and supervisory staff to escalate complex issues and support continuous improvement efforts. Key Requirements: Proven experience operating production or manufacturing machinery in an industrial environment.

Demonstrated ability to monitor equipment performance and respond quickly to operational issues. Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in mechanical troubleshooting. Solid understanding of quality control and inspection practices within a manufacturing setting.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and detailed work instructions. Comfortable performing basic preventive maintenance tasks on machinery. Willingness and ability to work a fixed Thursday-Saturday schedule from 4:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Strong focus on safety, reliability, and maintaining consistent output over long shifts. Desirable Skills: Experience in high-volume or continuous production environments. Familiarity with basic measurement tools (e.g., calipers, gauges) for quality checks

Exposure to lean manufacturing, 5S, or other process improvement methodologies. Experience recording data in digital production or maintenance systems. Previous work with automated or semi-automated equipment and control panels.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational or technical training in manufacturing, industrial technology, or mechanical fields preferred. Any relevant certifications in machine operation, industrial safety, or maintenance are an advantage.

If you are a reliable machine operator who takes pride in keeping equipment running at its best, this contract role offers a solid platform to put your skills to work-apply now to be considered.
