Job description

Applied Technical Services, LLC ("ATS" or the "Company") is a leading provider of critical testing, inspection, certification, and compliance services. The Company serves clients across a diverse set of large and stable end markets including manufacturing, power generation, aerospace, medical, and defense. ATS was founded in 1967 and is headquartered in Marietta, GA. Today the Company employs nearly 2,100 team members in over 95 locations across the United States.

Summary: ATS is seeking NAVSEA Level II UTSW Technicians for shipyard contract assignment near Charleston, SC. Competitive pay and per diem offered. Project is expected to last until end of 2026. Work schedule is 4-10's (Mon through Thurs) with OT required and available.
Responsibilities/Duties: Level II UTSW Technicians:
  • Perform UTSW examinations of materials in accordance with NAVSEA procedures, codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Set up and utilize NDT Testing Equipment.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the methods for which qualified and exercise assigned responsibility for OJT and guidance of trainees
  • Interface with department managers and clients to determine scope of work and work priorities in order to meet customer expectations.
  • Be able to prepare written instructions and to organize and report the results of examinations.
  • Work independently and support team members.
  • Perform other job related tasks as needed and assigned by supervisors.
  • Actively participate in ATS and Client Safety Programs.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Level II UTSW Technicians - Meet the minimum requirements of an NDT Level II UTSW Technician; provide documentation of education, training, and experience in the applicable NDT method(s); have a working knowledge of industrial environments and general manufacturing processes; ability to effectively communicate with other departments, and customers to report issues and solve problems.
  • Certification of Completion of 40+40 hour UT Level I and UT Level II/UTSW Level II Classroom training meeting SNT-TC-1A.
  • Documented UT On the Job Training signed by an SNT-TC-1A Level III or Supervisor.
  • NAVSEA and/or shipyard work experience REQUIRED.
  • Additional NDT certs are a plus but not required.
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

  • Ability to learn and comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills written and verbal.
  • Applicants must pass a drug screen and have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a required extensive background check for access to the shipyard.

Work Conditions:
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.
  • Work from heights on scaffolding, ladders, elevated platforms, man-baskets, etc.
  • Work in confined spaces which will require crawling, stooping, climbing, etc.
  • Work in around operating equipment and industrial environments.
  • Work shifts up to 12 hours/day and 7 days/week.
  • Ability to lift and carry 100 pounds.
