Preflight and prepare electronic files for high resolution output including: assembly, color correcting, retouching, color separation and trapping using programs such as Adobe CC. Inspect outgoing contract proofs to ensure they meet department quality guidelines before releasing. Maintain equipment used in Prepress Department. Monitor output for correct calibration and make adjustments as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Ensures final product leaving department meets quality standards prior to being released to other departments (and/or) customer.
  • Preflights / prepares electronic files for output.
  • Refines, traps and inspects files.
  • Imposes files.
  • Outputs and inspects for accuracy and quality.
  • Organizes output for next department.
  • Checks equipment for calibration.
  • Maintains equipment as needed.
  • Loads raw materials into output devices.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must have minimum of 2 years' prepress production experience required.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, including the demonstration of tact, sensitivity, and professionalism.
  • Must have knowledge of printing terminology and practices.
  • Must be able to maintain good attendance.
  • Must have ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must have ability to perform basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Must have basic computer skills (email, word processing, etc.).
  • Must have strong skills in Adobe CC.
  • Must have knowledge in Automation Engine or equivalent workflow.
  • Must have strong color correcting skills.
  • Must have strong quality inspection skills.
  • Must pass color vision test.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods.
  • Must be able to maintain good attendance.
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.
