Job description

California Resources Corporation is a publicly traded oil and natural gas exploration and production company and the largest oil and natural gas producer in California. We are currently looking for a State of California certified electrician experienced in maintenance of industrial electrical and instrumentation equipment with strong knowledgeable of NEC, NETA, NFPA 70E, and OSHA standards to fill the position of Electrician within our South Operations team based in Long Beach, CA.
The hourly pay range for this posted position is expected to be from $55 - $65, with a target annual bonus of 10% of base compensation. Individual pay decisions are based on several factors, including education, experience level and relevant industry experience. Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on motor controllers
  • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on the power distribution systems such as power and distribution transformers, MV and LV switchgears, cables etc.
  • Troubleshoot the PLC and relay systems
  • Troubleshoot and lead on major electrical and instrumentation Maintenance
  • Troubleshoot and maintain cathodic protection systems
  • Knowledgeable and perform PM on MV and LV motors
  • Perform LOTO, switching, racking of circuit breakers or starters
  • Perform electrical construction such as conduit and wiring installation
  • Perform Location Shut-in System testing
  • Implement electrical and instrumentation best practices
  • Perform electrical PM's
  • Identify problems on miscellaneous systems, example Water Injection Totalizer Systems
  • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on drilling rigs, example AC and DC drive
  • Provide operations with troubleshooting expertise on all pneumatic and instrumentation loop
  • Repair of positioners and valves as required by work order
  • Design and install conduit systems for Class I, Division I & II areas
  • Perform AWT Troubleshooting & PM's
  • Perform PM's on water, oil, and gas system pneumatic controls
  • Work with project engineers on project designs for facility modifications and additions
  • Provide electrical well activities and troubleshooting support
  • Rebuild and repairs motor controllers
  • Complete and document of electrical PM's
  • Assist in troubleshooting oil, gas and water system facilities problems
  • Perform minor and major Shut-in System testing with contract electricians
  • Perform electrical testing (Megger, Hypot, P.I. of switchgear, cables, motors)
  • Complete work orders in maximo
  • Respond to location emergencies
  • Assist in drilling rig and production rig moves
  • Provide troubleshooting support for rig operations
  • Repair electrical equipment as assigned by Electrical Maintenance Supervisor
  • Prepare electrical and instrumentation material requisitions

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience
  • Valid Class C California Driver's License required
  • State of California Electrician Certificate
  • Knowledgeable of NEC, NETA, NFPA 70E, and OSHA standards
  • Experienced in maintenance of industrial electrical and instrumentation equipment
  • Experienced in electrical construction in non-hazardous and hazardous areas.
  • TWIC card is required at the time of hire/selection or must be obtained within 90 days of hire as a condition of employment.
  • This is a DOT covered position. Candidates must be eligible to perform DOT covered work.
  • Available for shift work
  • Ability to stoop, stand, walk, pull, carry instruments, and climb stairs and ladders for extended period of time
  • Ability to lift, carry and pull up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work overhead for extended periods of time
  • Ability to perform fine manipulations with hands and fingers
  • Ability to one arm carry up to 25lbs. without assistance
  • Regular bending, crouching, pulling and kneeling to check equipment and gauges
  • Must be able to exert up to 50lbs. of force occasionally and up to 20lbs. frequently to move or manipulate objects
  • Ability to work significant amounts of time as required in completing job responsibilities
  • Working environment includes exposure to extremely loud noises in field, hazardous Chemicals, and Hydrocarbons that may be under extreme pressure for which appropriate safety measures are required

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent diagnostic and repair skills for complex problems in Electrical distribution systems
  • Capable of installing, troubleshooting, and repairing switchboard control panels and components, motor circuits, building and lighting circuits, and control circuits
  • Capable of understanding mechanical relay logic and ladder logic
  • Capable of troubleshooting simple ladder logic programs
  • Proficient at reading electrical schematics
  • Proficient at using all test equipment associated with troubleshooting electrical equipment
  • Able to safely supervise electrical contract work troubleshooting of Low to med voltage equipment
  • Able to effectively interface with electrical engineers
  • Able to perform minor preventive maintenance on medium voltage electrical equipment such as switchgear, breakers, etc.
  • Good computer skills - e-mail, Word for Windows
  • Team oriented, flexible and able to work with minimal supervision
