Job description

Our mission is to Profoundly change the standard of care by creating a tomorrow where clinicians can confidently ablate tissue with precision; a tomorrow where patients have access to safe and effective treatment options, so they can quickly return to their daily lives. Changing the standard of care is part of our fabric. We are a group of energetic, problem-solvers focused on innovation, and looking to change the world. We are changing the paradigm for treating diseases such as prostate cancer by using real-time MR Imaging, thermal ultrasound and close-loop temperature feedback control, to gently ablate the diseased tissue with minimal side effects.

If you share our values and want to work in a collaborative results focused culture and want to make a Profound impact in healthcare and your career, here is your chance.

General Accountability

The Senior Software Developer is responsible for designing and delivering high-quality software solutions that supports business and product objectives. In our highly regulated medical device environment, this includes responsibly leveraging AI tools to enhance development workflows while maintaining strict human oversight. This role requires deep expertise in WPF and a proven track record in developing enterprise-grade applications with complex business logic. The ideal candidate is committed to creating intuitive, user-friendly interfaces that deliver exceptional user experiences.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Guide requirements analysis: Contribute to defining technical solutions that meet product and system needs.
  • Design software architecture: Build components with a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Implement complex modules: Develop software features and integrate them seamlessly with existing systems.
  • Leverage AI tools efficiently: Utilize AI coding and documentation assistants (e.g., Claude) to increase development proficiency, ensuring all AI-generated outputs undergo rigorous human review and validation to meet strict medical device quality and safety standards.
  • Ensure code quality: Design and implement comprehensive unit tests to ensure reliability.
  • Execute testing: Plan and execute software testing activities, supporting integration and system verification.
  • Maintain documentation: Prepare and maintain high-quality software documentation, including design specifications and technical reports.
  • Resolve issues: Analyze and troubleshoot complex software issues, providing technical guidance to the team.
  • Optimize workflows: Maintain and optimize the Continuous Integration (CI) environment to ensure efficient builds and testing.
  • Support team growth: Actively mentor junior and mid-level developers, facilitate workshops, and support team growth through knowledge sharing.
  • Other duties assigned from time to time.

Education

Degree in Software Engineering or similar.

Key Attributes

  • 8+ years of experience in software development.
  • Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in at least one programming language, with a strong ability to craft efficient and scalable solutions using best practices.
  • WPF Expertise: Deep expertise in Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), with a proven track record developing enterprise-grade applications with complex business logic and a commitment to creating intuitive, user-friendly interfaces that deliver exceptional user experiences.
  • AI Tool Proficiency: Experience utilizing AI tools (e.g., Claude) to accelerate code generation, refactoring, and logic optimization. Use AI to augment coding and technical documentation, with a strong understanding that AI is strictly a supplemental tool requiring expert human oversight in a compliance framework.
  • AI Advocacy: Assist the manager in mentoring the team in the responsible adoption of AI. This includes establishing "prompt engineering" standards to improve output quality and training developers to scrutinize AI suggestions for hallucinations or security flaws.
  • Architecture & Design: Expertise in advanced design patterns, risk analysis, system optimization, and full-cycle development tasks.
  • Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to address complex problems, foresee issues, and devise innovative solutions that benefit the business.
  • Autonomy: High level of independence in making critical architectural decisions and managing project workflows.
  • Communication: Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and manage cross-functional collaboration seamlessly.
  • Business Acumen: Deep understanding of business impact, ensuring technical decisions align with strategic objectives.
  • Familiarity with medical device compliance standards and quality management systems is preferred.
