Contract Editors are professionals who review, revise, and sometimes draft contracts to ensure clarity, accuracy, and legal compliance. They work with legal teams, businesses, and individuals to edit contract language, identify potential issues, and confirm that agreements adhere to relevant laws and organizational standards. Their responsibilities may include proofreading, restructuring clauses, and suggesting improvements to protect the interests of all parties involved.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a contract editor?

  • Provide editorial advice and recommendations to NGB Action Officers, Staff Officers, and Workflow Managers.
  • Manage assigned staffing products through editorial review, ensuring on-time completion within one revision cycle.
  • Support publishing, editing, and library/archival media services for staff action and correspondence products.
  • Assist and instruct editorial classes during the Action Officer Training Course.
Requirements:
  •  5+ years of experience in professional editing, proofreading, research, and document quality control.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing executive correspondence, publications, or archival materials for senior leadership review.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (English, Journalism, or Communications) (preferred).
  • DoD or military correspondence editing experience a plus.
  • Must have active SECRET clearance.
