The Opportunity:
This opportunity is perfect for someone who provides excellent customer service, thrives when working independently and is passionate about containerization, automation, and seamless deployment practices. 
 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site systems engineering and systems administration support to research teams.

  • Respond to systems engineering and systems administration requests identified by the TCOR to operate, extend, and maintain team-supported projects.

  • Build Docker images from Dockerfiles and apply tags and labels for organized, effective versioning.

  • Manage Docker image lifecycles, including listing, updating, deleting, and cleaning up unused resources.

  • Run and manage multiple containers within shared environments, including starting, stopping, detaching, and inspecting containers.

  • Efficiently manage volumes for containerized applications.

  • Troubleshoot issues by reviewing container statistics and logs to diagnose and resolve problems.

  • Write and use Docker Compose files (YAML or JSON) to define and run multi-container applications.

  • Utilize Compose extensions for enhanced functionality.

  • Integrate with enterprise authentication and authorization tools.

  • Manage and schedule cron jobs.

  • Use Git for version control, including handling code merges with non-uniform standards.

  • Apply intermediate SQL skills and support backend database development.

  • Apply strong file management skills to support technical operations.

Qualifications:
Required:

  • Must have a TS/SCI with polygraph.

  • Six (6) years of experience in application prototype development and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline; or a Master's Degree with four (4) years of experience; or a Ph.D. with two (2) years of experience.

  • Strong expertise in Docker and containerization concepts, with the ability to build, run, manage, and optimize containerized applications.

  • Familiarity with container orchestration concepts, especially foundational knowledge of Docker Swarm and Kubernetes.

  • 1–2 years of Python experience, specifically for developing custom scripts.

Desired:

  • Experience with PostgreSQL databases.

  • Familiarity with establishing coding standards, including structured branching, small commits, and mandatory code reviews.

  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes.
