Cloud DevOps Engineer (Hybrid)

Ottawa, ON | Hybrid (3 Days Onsite - Tue to Thu)
Start Date: 12 months contract to begin

About the Environment

A global, highly secure cloud organization delivering mission-critical Identity & Access Management (IAM) services to enterprise customers operating in regulated, high-availability environments. The platform spans AWS and GCP and is built for scale, resilience, and zero-compromise security.

We are looking for a Cloud DevOps Engineer to join the Cloud Operations team and help drive reliability, automation, and next-generation AI-assisted operations across a complex multi-cloud ecosystem.


What You'll Be Doing

Cloud Operations & Reliability

  • Run and support production-grade IAM cloud services
  • Ensure high availability, performance, resilience, and security
  • Participate in L2/L3 incident response, RCA, and postmortems
  • Join a 24/7 follow-the-sun on-call rotation
  • Continuously improve operational stability and service quality

DevOps, Automation & IaC

  • Design and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitLab)
  • Deploy and operate Kubernetes platforms (EKS, GKE, OpenShift)
  • Automate provisioning, deployment, validation, and rollback processes
  • Ensure DevOps code quality, security, and consistency

Observability & AIOps

  • Implement monitoring and alerting using Datadog
  • Leverage AIOps for anomaly detection and alert correlation
  • Support faster root-cause analysis during incidents
  • Contribute to predictive analytics (capacity planning, failure prevention)

AI-Assisted Operations

  • Use AI copilots for troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Build automated remediation and self-healing workflows
  • Generate and enhance runbooks and operational documentation using AI
  • Integrate AI-driven insights into daily operations

Platform & Database Support (Secondary)

  • Support PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL, MongoDB, Elastic
  • Assist with HA/DR, backups, upgrades, and migrations
  • Ensure performance, reliability, and security of data systems

Collaboration & Governance

  • Create technical design docs, runbooks, and SOPs
  • Work with SREs, Automation Architects, and R&D teams
  • Improve scalability, cost efficiency, and operational maturity
  • Operate within ITIL-aligned environments

What You Bring

  • 5+ years in cloud production operations
  • Strong Kubernetes experience
  • Hands-on Terraform / IaC expertise
  • CI/CD experience with GitLab
  • AWS or GCP proficiency (multi-cloud preferred)
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, YAML, JSON)
  • Linux expertise
  • Experience with observability tools (Datadog preferred)

Nice to Have

  • AIOps / ML-driven monitoring experience
  • Exposure to AI-assisted DevOps workflows
  • IAM or regulated industry experience
  • ITIL / COBIT knowledge
  • Globally distributed team experience

Work Style

  • Hybrid: 3 days onsite (Tue-Thu)
  • Core hours: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Mon-Fri)
  • Collaborative, high-security, fast-moving environment
