Job description

Job Description Codeworks, an LRS company, is seeking a Test Engineer for a contract position. This role supports lab and engineering operations by configuring, maintaining, and validating compute systems used for testing activities. This role is responsible for preparing systems with required operating systems and software, supporting multi-system integration, executing test plans, documenting results, troubleshooting technical issues, and developing basic automation to improve efficiency.

The position works closely with engineering teams to ensure systems are reliable, accessible, and ready for testing and development activities. Key Responsibilities Configure and prepare test systems with required operating systems, software packages, and compute settings. Set up and support multi-machine environments, ensuring systems communicate and function effectively together.

Develop and execute test plans to validate functionality across UI, API, integration, and data layers. Document test procedures, results, defects, and observations, providing clear reports to engineering stakeholders. Serve as the first point of contact for hardware, operating system, configuration, and connectivity issues.

Create and maintain basic Python or Bash scripts to automate setup, troubleshooting, and log collection activities. Configure network settings, BIOS parameters, and remote management tools to support system accessibility and management. Collaborate with engineering teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues.

Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related STEM field, or equivalent experience. Experience working with Linux environments and command-line tools. Knowledge of system configuration, testing, and troubleshooting practices.

Ability to write, modify, or troubleshoot basic Python and/or Bash scripts. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative environment.

The base range for this contract position is $25.00- $40.00 per hour, depending on experience. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all U.S. locations
