Tech Impact's Data Innovation Lab (Tech Impact) exists to engage local and global organizations in an ongoing conversation around the use of advanced data analytics and artificial intelligence to fast-forward research ideas out of the lab and into the marketplace.

About the Opportunity
Tech Impact is looking for Data Engineers to join our Fellowship Program, in Delaware. The Fellowship Program will run from August 2026 to December 2026 and is a hybrid role. The successful candidate will have or will establish residence in Delaware. Along with our Lead Data Engineer, our Data Engineers serve as our primary delivery resource for consulting, designing, and building data warehouses.
The Fellowship is intended for technologists with a deep technical skill set and a strong desire to serve their communities. As a Data Engineer, you will work with our partners to develop and deploy production-grade solutions to social good problems. You will be expected to collaborate across system integration projects, ideally creating solutions that involve ETL/ELT and data modelling and implementing data warehouses that support our data narrative builds aiming to advance our mission. Your work will directly lead to improving the lives of people in communities in Delaware and beyond.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Design, build, and deploy ETL/ELT solutions across different projects among our team
  • Create and manage Cloud services (Azure, AWS) to support all aspects of our tech products, including their delivery
  • Organize and communicate personalized findings to clients and stakeholders
  • As part of the broader data team, propose innovative solutions to address sourcing and bridging data/data knowledge gaps amongst our team
  • Contribute to innovative projects, specifically to idea generation, idea incubation, and experimentation.
  • Serve as a liaison between government, corporate, community, and non-profit teams to effectively source and represent data solutions

More About You 
Our typical candidate holds a Master's degree in mathematics, computer science, psychology, public health, or another related quantitative field. However, undergraduates or individuals who have relevant training will also be considered.
In addition, we require strong skills, experience, and knowledge in the following:
  • Implementing data warehouses and appropriate governance
  • System integration projects, ideally with the creation of solutions that involve ETL/ELT and data modelling
  • Production-level SQL and one other relevant scripting language (Python, Java, R, etc.)
  • Implementing modern data pipelines (batch, real-time) using cloud-based services or enterprise-grade data integration tools/platforms (Informatica, Talend, SSIS, Azure Data Factory, etc.)
  • Implementing and managing cloud-based data services 
  • DevOps and CI/CD processes
  • Proven ability to understand business processes in detail and translating these into building data pipelines
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to navigate organizing/prioritizing work efficiently and effectively
  • A preference for experience handling confidential data and information with integrity in a shared cloud environment
