Job description

Company Overview:Blink Health is the fastest growing healthcare technology company that builds products to make prescriptions accessible and affordable to everybody. Our two primary products - BlinkRx and Quick Save - remove traditional roadblocks within the current prescription supply chain, resulting in better access to critical medications and improved health outcomes for patients.
BlinkRx is the world's first pharma-to-patient cloud that offers a digital concierge service for patients who are prescribed branded medications. Patients benefit from transparent low prices, free home delivery, and world-class support on this first-of-its-kind centralized platform. With BlinkRx, never again will a patient show up at the pharmacy only to discover that they can't afford their medication, their doctor needs to fill out a form for them, or the pharmacy doesn't have the medication in stock.
We are a highly collaborative team of builders and operators who invent new ways of working in an industry that historically has resisted innovation. Join us!
The Role
We are seeking a Director of Data Platform & Engineering to lead the evolution of Blink's real-time and batch data platform, built on AWS and Databricks. This role owns the strategy, execution, and people leadership for the data platform and engineering team, managing a team of Data Engineers and Data Platform Engineers.
As a Director, you will set the long-term vision and day-to-day management of the data platform and how data is ingested, processed, stored, and modeled, aligned with business objectives. This is a high visibility role deriving trusted metrics, reports and analytics that power decisioning systems, operational workflows and data products for internal and external stakeholders. You will balance hands-on technical judgment with organizational leadership-building high-performing teams, scaling platform capabilities, and ensuring the platform remains reliable, cost-effective, and aligned with business priorities.
This is a highly cross-functional role, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Infrastructure Data, and Leadership to simplify our data ecosystem, retire legacy patterns, and establish scalable, lakehouse-first foundations for real-time analytics and decisioning.
We are open to hiring this position in:
New York (Preferred)
Pittsburgh
San Francisco
Seattle
What You Will Do
Platform & Technical Leadership
  • Own the operations and administration of our end-to-end data platform including ingestion, storage, and data/insight serving layers
  • Own architecture and implementation of platform modernization including streaming systems, lakehouse design, and data-serving APIs, ensuring scalability, correctness, and operability
  • Unify real-time and historical data with strong data quality and correctness guarantees
  • Define and enforce standardized data contracts, event schemas to feed curated, trusted datasets for downstream applications, reporting and AI/ML, aligned with business needs.
  • Set standards for performance, cost efficiency, reliability, and observability across Spark, SQL, and streaming workloads
People & Organizational Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and grow teams of Data Engineers and Data Platform Engineers, including hiring, performance management, and career development
  • Build a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, technical excellence, and continuous improvement
  • Develop clear team charters, ownership boundaries, and operating models that scale with the business
  • Act as a coach and technical sounding board for senior and staff-level data and platform engineers, enabling high-impact decision-making
  • Partner with Data leadership to plan capacity, staffing, and roadmaps aligned to company priorities
Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Partner closely with leaders in Data, Product, Engineering, Operations, Finance, Network and Growth to align platform investments with business outcomes
  • Translate business needs into platform capabilities and sequencing, balancing short-term delivery with long-term platform health
  • Communicate platform strategy, tradeoffs, and progress clearly to executive and technical stakeholders
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex platform issues, driving resolution and long-term fixes
Technical Skills & Experience
  • 10+ years of experience building distributed data systems, with 3+ years of significant leadership experience owning scaled data platforms
  • Experience defining and operationalizing data contracts, event schema standards, enterprise data models, data quality and governance frameworks at scale
  • Deep expertise in real-time data systems, including AWS Kinesis and Spark Structured Streaming
  • Strong command of cloud based data platforms - preferably Databricks and Tableau environments on AWS (Delta Lake, clusters, jobs, performance tuning) and core AWS services (S3, IAM, networking)
  • Proven experience designing and operating data-serving architectures and APIs for analytics, metrics, and feature consumption
  • Advanced understanding of Python and SQL, with the ability to guide high-performance pipeline and platform design
  • Demonstrated success designing idempotent, replayable, observable data platforms with strong operational rigor

Experience leading platform modernization and reducing technical complexity at scale
