Summary:
Manager of Data Analytics & Engineering role leads a team that is responsible for creating high-quality, high-impact reports to enable internal and external stakeholders to make data-driven decisions across all AFG products. This role works closely with disciplines across the organization to identify requirements, build and automate reports, and manage reporting infrastructure. This role pairs deep expertise in SQL, Python, and other data tools with the ability to manage and mentor others and communicate clearly across the organization.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Data Analyst discipline at AFG
  • Mentor and develop a team of data analysts including goal setting, performance reviews, and career development
  • Review team deliverables (queries, models, reports, dashboards) for quality
  • Develop and enforce analytics standards, documentation practices, and code review processes
  • Report the health of the team operations to executives
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members

Responsibilities:
  • Execute data validation, profiling, auditing, and data cleansing activities for report deliverables
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines for data extraction, transformation, and analysis
  • Partner with stakeholders to define metrics, KPIs, and reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with data engineering on data infrastructure, governance, and tooling improvements
  • Stay current on analytics tools, methods, and industry trends
  • Standardize, automate, and maintain data collection and processing for report deliverables
  • Develop and maintain deep functional knowledge of the business and the business data model
  • Document and maintain standard operating procedures
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Expert level knowledge of SQL, Python, ETL tooling (dbt, Airflow)
  • Proficient with git
  • Familiarity with change management processes
  • Strong written communication skills for documenting and working across the organization
  • Ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple requests
  • Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring analysts
  • Demonstrated success working cross-functionally across an organization
  • Experience with data warehousing and cloud data platforms like Redshift
