What is a data analyst contract?

Data analyst contract jobs are short-term or long-term projects for independent contractors to collect and analyze a company's data for a specific purpose. As a contract data analyst, you may help determine the scope of the project, provide guidance and support to staff, help analyze trends, recommend ways of gathering and processing information, and produce reports for executives and managers. Data analysts who work on a contract often use data visualization tools to help explain results and assess data for accuracy, consistency, and logic. Depending on the company, you may also work with information dashboards or format data from multiple sources so it can be analyzed from a central point.

What is a contract data analyst?

Contract data analysts are professionals hired on a temporary or project basis to collect, process, and analyze data for organizations. They help businesses make data-driven decisions by interpreting complex information, identifying trends, and generating reports. Contract data analysts often work with various teams to solve specific business challenges or support ongoing projects, bringing flexibility and specialized expertise without the commitment of a full-time hire.

How does a contract data analyst typically collaborate with legal and procurement teams during the contract review process?

A Contract Data Analyst works closely with legal and procurement teams to ensure that contract data is accurately extracted, analyzed, and interpreted. They often participate in cross-functional meetings to clarify contract terms, address data discrepancies, and provide data-driven insights that support negotiation and compliance efforts. Effective communication and attention to detail are essential, as these teams rely on the analyst to identify trends, risks, and opportunities within large volumes of contract data. This collaborative approach helps organizations make informed decisions and maintain regulatory compliance.

Job description

Data Analyst

Stamford CT

Contract

Core responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain the IW Executive Report covering customers receiving Invincible WiFi service, including metric definitions, report period scoping, and the presentation layer.
  • Write production-grade SQL for ad-hoc and recurring analysis: IW customer churn rate, customers impacted by service interruptions caused by fiber cuts, self-service/SSB rates, and adoption funnels.
  • Define and implement business logic for new measures, including SI cause classification to isolate fiber-cut-driven interruptions, and identification of customers on fiber equipment at the time of an interruption.
  • Partner with the ETL team to get new columns and flags implemented in the warehouse, then validate each layer (source view → staging → dev → production) before release.
  • Run ad-hoc investigations across the IW base, such as identifying customers who have not activated their equipment after N days, splitting the base by how they acquired IW (free/promotional offer vs. paid service, and with or without a Service Reliability offer code), measuring SSB rate, and similar one-off questions as they come up from stakeholders.
  • Use Kiro extensively to accelerate analysis, logic implementation, and ad-hoc report delivery, cutting turnaround from days to hours.
  • Build and maintain the automated refresh pipeline that pulls from Redshift, applies the metric logic, and regenerates the HTML dashboard and Excel deliverables end to end, removing manual report assembly.
