Job description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant/Analyst to support core accounting operations while strengthening financial reporting and system-driven insights in San Joaquin County, California. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for a finance specialist who combines strong close and reconciliation experience with advanced reporting capabilities in ERPs. The person in this role will partner with finance leaders and operational stakeholders to improve reporting visibility, maintain data reliability, and support project-based finance system initiatives.


Responsibilities:

• Lead monthly close activities, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, and ensuring timely completion of assigned accounting tasks.

• Perform detailed account and bank reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items to preserve the accuracy of financial records.

• Design, refine, and maintain financial and operational reports within Sage Intacct to provide clearer visibility into business performance.

• Create dashboards, key performance indicators, and management reporting materials that help leadership make informed financial decisions.

• Review data structure, report mapping, and output accuracy to ensure dependable reporting and consistency across finance systems.

• Assist with implementation-related activities such as testing, data conversion support, and report validation for finance system projects.

• Identify opportunities to streamline reporting workflows, reduce dependence on manual spreadsheets, and improve process efficiency.

• Document reporting procedures and accounting workflows, and share knowledge with internal users to support effective ongoing use of tools and processes.

• 5+ years of experience in accounting or financial analysis roles with hands-on responsibility for month-end close activities.

• Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, and bank reconciliation processes.

• Demonstrated expertise in ERP reporting, including building or enhancing financial and operational reports.

• Solid understanding of financial data validation, mapping logic, and reporting accuracy controls.

• Experience supporting finance system implementations, testing efforts, or data conversion activities.

• Ability to develop dashboards, KPI reporting, and management-ready financial reporting packages.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with finance leadership and cross-functional operational stakeholders.
