EHC is looking for a Controller for a Client in Woodville, Tx

Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Bonus Opportunity: Up to 20% Annual Bonus

Position Summary

The Controller serves as a key member of the senior leadership team and is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations. This role partners with executive leadership to develop, implement, and manage financial strategies, accounting processes, reporting functions, cost allocation methodologies, capital management, and internal controls. The Controller will play a critical role in supporting business growth initiatives through financial leadership, operational partnership, and strategic decision-making.

Strong Senior Staff Accountants who have demonstrated leadership abilities, analytical strength, and readiness to advance into a Controller role are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Accounting Operations

  • Lead all accounting and finance functions, including the development and maintenance of accounting systems, policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting while minimizing risk and strengthening financial processes.
  • Prepare and present cash flow analyses, financial statements, and financial forecasts on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Coordinate internal and external financial reporting requirements, including audit support.
  • Review and approve journal entries, inventory transactions, payroll activity, accounts payable processing, and account reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Analyze financial performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to develop and manage annual operating budgets.
  • Oversee capital expenditure tracking and ensure accurate project accounting.

Contract, Vendor & Customer Management

  • Ensure billing, receivables, and accounting practices align with contractual requirements and service agreements.
  • Support contract negotiations and financial reviews as needed.
  • Develop and maintain strong business relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to maximize operational and financial efficiencies.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance team members.
  • Oversee recruiting, onboarding, training, performance management, coaching, and employee development.
  • Establish departmental goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), and reporting metrics.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
  • Address employee concerns, resolve issues, and communicate organizational policies and procedures effectively.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Serve as a proactive problem solver with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Support health, safety, and environmental initiatives and compliance efforts.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

Preferred Education

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation highly preferred

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
  • Previous Controller experience preferred; candidates with strong leadership experience in Senior Accountant or similar roles will be considered.
  • Manufacturing, industrial, chemical, or process-driven industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of General Accounting and Cost Accounting principles.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, team-building, and change management skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Experience handling confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to drive process improvements and organizational change.
  • Flexibility to work occasional extended hours when business needs require.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stretching, stooping, crouching, climbing, and repetitive motion activities.
  • Ability to lift and move items exceeding 10 pounds on occasion.
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment capabilities are required.

Work Environment

This role is primarily performed in an office environment but may require time spent in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Conditions may include exposure to:

  • Heat and varying temperatures
  • Dust, odors, and vibration
  • Moving machinery and mechanical equipment
  • Vehicular traffic
  • Elevated noise levels
  • Various weather conditions when outside operational facilities

Employees may be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and work overtime, weekends, holidays, or respond to emergency situations as business demands require.
