Job description

Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care

The Registered Nurse collaborates with the healthcare team using evidence-based practices, demonstrating accountability, and respect for patients, families, and coworkers while providing safe and optimal patient outcomes. This role promotes continuity of care by effectively communicating with the interdisciplinary team and families as appropriate. The RN directs the work of support staff in the provision of care and performs general nursing duties using critical thinking skills with minimal supervision. The position involves working with age-specific populations, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities
  • Perform assessments and record patient histories.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and execute care plans.
  • Guide and mentor support staff to ensure quality care delivery.
  • Document patient care and nursing interventions accurately.
  • Assess and respond to patient needs, providing empathetic support.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
  • Graduate of an accredited RN program; BSN preferred.
  • Current registration and licensure in the State of Iowa as an RN, in good standing with the Board of Nursing.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS required; new employees must certify within three months.
  • Current ACLS certification, to be obtained per guidelines after hiring.
  • Nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • High degree of empathetic listening skills, tact, and kindness toward others.
  • Basic computer knowledge and strong technical and critical thinking skills.

This is a 13-week contract position.
