Overview

This position is responsible for assuring proper economic and qualitative scheduling of deliveries for coal, fuel oil, and reagents (limestone, hydrated lime, PAC and ammonia).  This includes transportation and related services by the most optimum mix of rail, barge, truck or other delivery in accordance with Coal Supply and By-Products Marketing contracts.

This position monitors supplier performance by tracking shipment quality, weight and timing.

This position monitors plant specific and system inventories to assure compliance with inventory targets.

Responsibilities

•Works under direction, to establish and coordinate shipment schedules between suppliers, transportation providers, and the coal-fired plants.
•Works under direction, to ensure deliveries are in accordance with either forecast demands or changing demands and the correct quantity and quality is delivered to the needed location in the sequence that provides for the lowest electric generation costs.
•Works under direction, to ensure correct inventories are maintained at all plants and across the utilities’ system.
•Works under direction, to ensure all shipment and analyses data is entered into the coal management system for comparison and payment purposes.
•Works under direction, to ensure Coal Supply and By-Products Marketing complies with all transportation regulations concerning the movement of products via rail, barge, or truck and all reporting requirements are met.
•Works under direction, manages the use of the leased railcars with railroads in order to maximize their use, minimize cost and ensure least cost of operations.
•Supports Coal Supply and By-Products Marketing accounting functions by providing reviews as needed.
•Works under direction, to interface with personnel at plant locations to support operations and to ensure sampler, scale and unloading operations.
•Works under direction, to assure that payment calculations reflect the appropriate weight and analysis.
•Works under direction, run and analyze reports to ensure contract specifications are being met.
•Works under direction, to provide assistance to the mining engineer, who conducts field inspections of suppliers, transportation and transloading facilities to ensure efficient operation and accurate information.
•Works under direction, to assists with development and implementation of Coal Supply and By-Products Marketing goals, objectives, budgets and programs that provide for reliable and least cost generation.
•Performs other duties as assigned
