Job description

Seeking an experienced Cloud Systems Administrator to join our team supporting the NEST Communication Program.  Your efforts will provide hands-on operational and technical support to the NEST Communications Program within the DOE NNSA NA-84 portfolio, managing cloud infrastructure to ensure system availability, security, and performance. This role is responsible for maintaining cloud environments, implementing configuration changes, and enforcing cybersecurity and compliance requirements to support reliable mission execution.

Position Duties:
•    Provision and configure cloud resources aligned to NEST Communications Program architecture
•    Maintain system availability, performance, and reliability
•    Execute routine updates, patching, and configuration changes
•    Monitor cloud environments using enterprise tools
•    Identify, troubleshoot, and escalate system issues
•    Support incident response aligned to mission priorities
•    Manage user access using IAM frameworks
•    Enforce least privilege and federal compliance standards
•    Support access audits and lifecycle management
•    Support synchronization with National Laboratories and partner agencies
•    Assist leadership with operational tracking and reporting
•    Maintain system documentation and SOPs
•    Ensure alignment with DOE/NNSA compliance requirements
•    Monitor backups and validate data integrity
•    Perform restoration actions supporting mission continuity
•    Improve workflows and operational efficiency
•    Ensure compliance with DOE/NNSA policies and RMF
Required Skills, Education, and Experience:
•    Bachelor’s degree in an area applicable to the position with 2+ years of relevant experience in IT support, systems administration, or cloud operations; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree requirement. 
•    Relevant internships or hands-on lab experience a plus
•    Experience working in an AWS environment and familiarity with console accesses to provision, maintain and monitor servers. 
•    Foundational understanding of networking concepts (IP addressing, DNS, basic routing
•    Basic proficiency with command-line environments (Linux Bash and/or Windows PowerShell)
•    Understanding of FEDRAMP
•    Virtualization and container experience
•    Scripting experience with PowerShell, Bash, Python
•    Automation Tools such as Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation
•    Excellent troubleshooting skills and communication skills
•    Strong willingness to learn and operate in a structured, SOP-driven environment
Preferred Qualification:
•    Experience with DoD or DOE/NNSA
•    Current and active DOE Q Clearance/Top Secret Clearance with the ability to acquire an SCI.
•    Entry-level cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)

Required Clearance:

This position requires a TS/SCI and Q clearance.  To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age and requires US citizenship.  All successful applicants must complete a new employment drug test and maintain a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.  Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified material.

Salary:
Compensation at BVG & Company is determined by various factors, including but not limited to geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior experience, education, knowledge, skills, certifications and competencies.
