Day Porter

*This job has a June 1st start date*

*This job is located at Bessemer Elementary School*

*This job is for part-time work from 8-12*

Job Summary

The Day Porter will be responsible for ensuring that the building and facilities are clean, maintained, and presentable always. This role requires a proactive approach to cleaning and maintaining public and common areas, responding to cleaning needs as they arise, and ensuring a positive, clean environment for employees, visitors, and guests.

Job Duties

  1. Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of lobbies, waiting areas, hallways, and other common areas.
  2. Continuously monitor, service, and sanitize restrooms, ensuring they are fully stocked with supplies (paper towels, soap, etc.).
  3. Proactively disinfect high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, countertops, and elevator buttons.
  4. Respond promptly and professionally to any spills or immediate cleaning requests.
  5. Empty trash and recycling receptacles throughout the day.
  6. Interact in a friendly and professional manner with clinic staff, patients, and visitors.
  7. Maintain a neat and organized janitorial closet and manage supply inventory.
  8. Adhere to all safety and health regulations, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
  9. Any other duties as mandated by the scope of the contract.
  10. Communicate effectively any irregularities, equipment or building damage,
  11. Follow security protocols as dictated by the contract.
  12. Wear company issued shirts.
  13. Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor.

Requirements

  • Must be a team player willing to complete other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint criminal background check.
  • A minimum of one year experience as a Day Porter in a K-12 school is preferred. Some classroom setup and takedown, as well as light moving, may be required.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, move up to 25 lbs without restrictions.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
