IMEG is hiring a Senior Structural Engineer in Vancouver, Washington to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for moderate to complex projects, with limited support from senior staff on larger, high-complexity work. This role works closely with engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and client guidance for structural systems in buildings and other structures.
You will manage project scope, schedules, billings, quality control, and construction-phase coordination while mentoring staff and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. For this team, we are especially interested in seismic experience to support commercial work and a west coast seismic retrofit and utility specialty, contributing to sustainable design goals.

What You'll Do
  • Coordinate, oversee, and manage projects ranging in size and complexity.
  • Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work, fee calculations for proposal generation, and contract reviews.
  • Create project schedules with milestone and deadline targets.
  • Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients.
  • Create monthly billings, submit financial information to Accounting in a timely manner, and update billing projections and estimated completion percentages monthly.
  • Ensure design follows owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards, and code requirements, and ensure milestone deliverables, quality control processes, and construction technical support are completed in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with design staff to coordinate project scheduling through all phases of design and construction, and schedule and lead progress meetings with meeting documentation.
  • Conduct construction site visits, provide documentation as needed or requested, respond to client and construction concerns, and manage change orders and obtain appropriate approvals.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate staff.
  • Build, maintain, and develop client relationships.
  • Conduct oneself in an ethical and professional manner.

What You'll Bring
Required
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • Structural Engineer (SE) License and/or passed the Structural Engineer (SE) Exam required
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Demonstrated leadership traits in the Project Management career path
  • Adept in the technical aspects of one's discipline
  • Mastery of technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in mechanics and materials, load paths, design techniques, design standards, including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and concepts involved in structural systems of building and structures
  • Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and demonstrate effective team building skills

  • Seismic rehabilitation for schools, fire stations, and police facilities.
  • SRGP / TAP assessment work across Oregon districts and public agencies, with a strong Pacific Northwest public-sector footprint.
  • Utility and power equipment qualification, especially transformers, reactors, and substations, plus select water / utility buildings, ambulatory facilities, and mixed-use support.
  • Recent work includes Clark Public Utilities Operations Center New Data Room / Vancouver, WA, Utility Company, and Redmond Fire Station 404 Seismic Rehabilitation / Redmond, OR, Government / Municipal.

State of Washington Salary Range: $115,000-$160,000.00
Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
