Impact in this role

This position maintains all Material Handling Equipment (MHE) within the facility, including but not limited to Automatic Storage and Retrieval Systems, Conveyors, Vertical Lift Modules, Control Systems, and related technology. Timely preventive maintenance, including spare parts selection and ordering, diagnostics and troubleshooting are core to ensuring 100% uptime of all equipment to support Quality, Cost, and Time objectives.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Maintain and trouble shoot all conveyor systems, electrical and mechanical
  • Serve as resident expert in the functionality, setup, operation, and troubleshooting of the site's material handling and other equipment
  • Understand and verify operations of the mechanical, electrical, and software components of the entire automated system, including PLC's, motors, sensors, pick-to-light systems, conveyors, mechanical components, and computer interfaces
  • Train team in the operation and maintenance of all MHE and related software
  • Identify root causes of issues related to equipment failure; recommend solutions and appropriate courses of action
  • Collaborate with vendors to ensure timely implementation and completion of standard / preventive maintenance, equipment improvement projects
  • Manage maintenance and facilities contracts with vendors
  • Must be available after normal operating hours if needed to resolve emergency breakdowns or system failures
  • Drive continuous improvement
  • Manage and organize spare parts inventory
  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Traits

  • Ability to install, maintain and troubleshoot power distribution systems, branch circuits, lighting systems, transformers, and wiring methods and materials.
  • Ability to install, maintain and troubleshoot relay logic, ladder diagrams, control components – photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, tachometers. and encoders.
  • PLC programs, ability to troubleshoot ladder logic (read use for troubleshooting), components (CPU, I/O boards, counters, modules and devices) and communications modules (Ethernet)
  • Experience with warehouse automation systems or equipment preferred
  • Experience using CMMS
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including as it pertains to training others
  • Positive, can-do attitude in cross-functional and culturally diverse work environment

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs repetitively
  • Must be comfortable with climbing ladders and equipment and/or utilizing aerial lifts to 60 feet. Training in proper safety procedures and use of required PPE is mandatory

The hourly rate for this role is $33-$36/hr based on experience
